Woke up this a.m. reading stories about the mess that Biden & Dems had made of this year. Then came news of more job growth--5.5 million new jobs in 9 months. Then, tonight passage of a $1.2 T infrastructure bill and a commitment from House Dems to pass the $1.75 T BBB package.
That will make almost $5T in programs to help Americans in Biden's first year & the 5.5 million jobs & getting 80% of American adults vaccinated & lifting half of kids out of poverty & ending America's longest war & advancing a 15% minimum global corporate tax...
...and appointing more judges more quickly than his predecessors & reversing damaging, dangerous Trump decisions & restoring US approval rating in the world to near record levels (after Trump's record lows) & doing all this despite relentless, irrational GOP opposition.
That's a lot for a first year, more than any president in modern history. It's also a lot for one day, quite the turnaround in the narrative. Oh sure, headlines tom'w will spin the achievement to be about the division (and ignore that infra was something DJT couldn't get done.)
But those of you who are reading this...you know the real story. And starting tomorrow, it is up to all of us to make sure everyone else knows, too. Because the stark, startling truth more than anything else is what will drive a Dem victory in 2022...and save our democracy.

This Times editorial board piece arguing Tuesday showed that Dems don't want big progressive ideas ignores one small fact: The ideas Biden is promoting are virtually all supported by 2/3ds or more of Americans. His platform is as mainstream as it gets. nytimes.com/2021/11/04/opi…
It also essentially asserts that the elections were a referendum on the BBB ideas with zero evidence to support that idea. It also ignores key factors that drove the results from historical trends to the consequences of post-COVID hangover on public views (like education).
It also ignores the wins of progressives across the country and plays up centrist victories like that of Eric Adams while ignoring that he 1st won in a weighted choice primary against a field in which progressives offset each other and then vs. a joke opponent in the general.

As soon as we get done recognizing that Biden's domestic agenda has led to an unprecedented year of accomplishment, I would like to put in a word for the international agenda.
Contrary to what you may have read, it includes the following:
--Ending the longest war in US history
--Re-entering the Paris climate accords and restoring US to a leadership role in global climate talks (including big climate commitment in BBB package)
--Scoring big victories against the pandemic at home (well over 400 million doses given, nearly 200 million fully vaccinated) but also leading the way in vaccine diplomacy (with a commitment of over 1 billion doses)

New study shows massive rebound in approval ratings for US from countries worldwide under Biden. Trump hit record low. Biden in first few months on the job has nearly tied the previous record high in US approval achieved under Barack Obama.
news.gallup.com/poll/355979/ra…
According to Gallup, 'Approval ratings of US leadership increased substantially--by 10 percentage points or more--between 2020 and 2021 in 36 of 46 countries and territories surveyed throughout the first half of the year.'
'Ratings improved by the most--by at least 40 points--among several European allies.' Big gains among G7--with ratings up 38 points in Canada, 36 points in Germany, 30 points in the UK, 22 points in Italy, 18 points in France and 11 points in Japan.'

Deeply saddened by the loss of General Colin Powell. He was not only an extraordinary public servant but a man of both great character, wisdom and warmth.
While his legacy is tarnished by his UN testimony in Iraq, his decades of military service and leadership in the national security and foreign policy community strengthened our country immeasurably.
From his time in Vietnam to his last years seeking to stand up for democracy and against intolerance and extremism in the US we all should be grateful for his contributions.

One group in DC wants to get rich people and companies who have been dodging their tax responsibilities to pay their fair share and then invest that money in providing essential support to average Americans, their families and communities.
Another group wants to help ensure the rich get to keep even more money and pay for it by doing less for you. Another group wants to block any much needed investment in our futures altogether (while helping the rich and powerful even more.)
How is this even a debate? How is this about "progressives" and "moderates" and partisan politics as usual? This is about decency and common sense and our future and our children and the health of our country. It is clear cut...yet that is not coming through in stories about it.

This is an administration that is taking the time...at the highest levels...to try to make your life better, to keep you healthy. It is prioritizing you. It has an agenda to do more for you. It is disorienting in this day and age of cynical politics. But it is what we need most.
I really want to underscore this point. The debate in Washington now on infrastructure and Building Back Better is not about Congressional battles or inside baseball politics--it is about whether your tax dollars should go to helping you and your family have better lives.
@POTUS is seeking to make sure the money you pay in taxes is invested in your children, your grandchildren, you, your health, your education, our country, our strength, our competitiveness, protecting our environment. He is seeking to make sure others pay their fair share to help.
