1. Never be fooled by apologists for Chinese expansion in Arunachal who will deflect, obfuscate, allege motives and draw false equivalences to `manage perception.' This thread lists key quotes from experts with immense credibility, decades of experience.
2. Renowned Tibetologist Claude Arpi: ''The village is well South of the McMahon [Line] and the Indian perception of the Line of Actual Control.''

5. Sim Tack, Chief Military Analyst at Force Analysis - ''It's important to note that the Chinese military has maintained a small forward position in this valley since 2000.'' This position ''has allowed China to advance observation into the valley for many years ..."
6. [and] has been seemingly uncontested.'' This has ''allowed gradual upgrades of mobility from China into the valley (roads and bridges) over time, eventually culminating in the recent construction of this village.''
7. Dr. Brahma Chellaney: author, renowned geostrategic affairs editor - ''China is opening another front against India by taking its 'salami-slicing' tactics to Arunachal Pradesh.''
8. Dr. Brahma Chellaney: ''Its encroachment on an area that clearly falls within India underscores the stealth and speed with which it is redrawing facts on the ground, with little regard for the geopolitical fallout.''
9. Arunachal Pradesh BJP MP Tapir Gao -''Construction is still going on. China has entered more than 60-70 kms inside the upper Subansiri district if you follow the path along the river...''

1. Not quite. This 100 home village, construction of which qualitatively changes the status quo in the region, WAS constructed in `a short time.' On the left, an image from Aug 2019: No village. On the right, an image from Nov 2020: Village complete. 📸: @planet
2. By constructing a village on Indian territory that it claims (India considers this an illegal occupation), China categorically violates Article VII of the 2005 bilateral agreement between India and China. How? Read on.
3. The agreement says, ''In reaching a boundary settlement, the two sides shall safeguard due interests of their SETTLED populations in the border areas.'' (more)
1. Local BJP leaders, concerned with continuing Chinese construction activity in the Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal had shared these pics of the region. Widely reported. This is well south of the village being discussed and deeper into our territory. (more)
2. The military garrison shown in the last image is clearly identifiable in both Google Earth and satellite images in the original ndtv report - ndtv.com/india-news/chi…
2. A WhatsApp forward shared to describe the images said, ''New power house and its dam have been constructed [at] a place called Bisa over Lensi river, between original Maja ... '' (more)
1. (Thread) Over the last year, @ndtv has highlighted Chinese `salami slicing' of territory in the Himalayas through detailed satellite imagery. While the attention of the world has been on Ladakh, China's territorial ambitions in the Eastern frontier have been more insidious.
2. This report on the construction of a Chinese village, near the 2017 Doklam faceoff site shows how Beijing violated the territorial integrity of Bhutan, bypassed Indian defences and continued construction towards the vulnerable Siliguri corridor.
3. This report showed how China has built 3 villages, approximately 5 km from the Bum La pass which lies close to the tri-junction between India, China and Bhutan in western Arunachal Pradesh. This puts pressure on the LAC. ndtv.com/india-news/exc…
1/8 @BorisJohnson - it's time for the UK to walk the talk on India being a valuable strategic partner and other nice sounding things. Fully vaccinated Indian nationals using the SAME AZ vaccine YOU got are senselessly stuck in quarantine in your country. (more)
2. Many of them are students who pay through the roof to study in your country. Their contribution as international students adds massively to the financial viability of your colleges. Today, many such students are victims of your thoughtless entry rules. (more)
3. This utterly biased system of entry pushes fully vaccinated Indian students into 10 day quarantine. The SAME vaccine was exported to your country from India and administered to your citizens. Why the senseless discrimination?
1. Gen.Pachory - the induction of women in the armed forces - whether in the NDA now, combat arms in the future or in any capacity for that matter is not an exercise in social or political correctness. This is 2021, our armed forces are not a boys club. @BhatiAishwarya
2. Kindly refer to previous observations of the Supreme Court: "To cast aspersions on gender is an affront to their dignity and to the country. Time has come that women officers are not adjunct to their male counterparts."
3. Supreme Court: "Physiological features of women have no link to their rights. The mindset must change."
1/4 Sadly, today's @BharatBiotech statement saying the @WHO may clear Covaxin between July and Sept will add to tension of students who have had the vaccine & want to study abroad. Colleges open in Aug/Sept - many don't presently recognise Covaxin since its not WHO approved.
2/4 Important for Indian students seeking admission to seek individual exemptions. Of course, just being allowed into many countries is the biggest question now given the travel ban.
3/4 Here are screenshots of a few leading US universities who say they will only accept FDA or WHO certified vaccines ... Presently, Covishield is the only one available in India which works. Neither Sputnik nor Covaxin will
