Why are C19 prophylactics & early treatments such a sh*t show?

I get that I'm not a horse, and so any drug (like aspirin) used with horses is not for me.

But they get that I don't have HIV, and am not too jazzed about a medication that 'slows my metabolism' for months, right?
Wasn't the whole idea of prescribing a drug used to treat one thing (neuralgia) to treat some other thing (blood pressure), supposed to be as ridiculous as animal/human cross-over medications?

That is, a scenario featuring more vax harm than benefit for children due to a single, known side effect, in the short-term, not to mention other side effects, known and unknown in the short and long terms.
