Ten months ago today, the New York Times published a bombshell: Offficer Brian Sicknick was bludgeoned to death by Trump loyalists using a fire extinguisher.

The account was based on 2 anonymous law enforcement officials. It went viral immediately:

The murder of an officer stunned the nation. His death created all sort of optics for January 6--a procession thru DC, memorial service in Rotunda attended by the Bidens and leaders of both sides, burial in Arlington.

Slight problem: it was a lie.

NYT "corrected" actually retracted the fire extinguisher story after Sicknick's official memorial and weekend before Senate vote on impeachment.

But news orgs that peddled the lie did not offer formal retractions or apologies for misleading audience:

In fact, Sicknick died of natural causes, not anything related to January 6. That is not stopping the media, Democrats, and Joe Biden from continuing to repeat the shameful lie. Nearly every news org still counts Sicknick as a J6 fatality:

Same formula as Russiagate. Use anonymous sources that are never revealed, light a match with a bogus story, have it regurgitated by entire news media, stoke unjustified outrage, quietly admit it was untrue, move on without apology. Has anyone at NYT been fired for the lie? Nope.
Meanwhile, the lives and families of two men are being destroyed so Biden's DOJ and the media can keep alive the lie that Trump supporters are responsible for Sicknick's untimely death.

I get asked this a lot. I’m not an attorney so I’ll try to answer based on all the hearings I’ve covered.

Despite the fact there are ~660 Jan 6 defendants, most charged individually, DC District Court (and Circuit for that matter) handling every case as one huge prosecution. 1/
DOJ keeps delaying discovery, evidence-sharing platforms bc video/ documentary trove is so massive. DOJ now telling defendants most discovery won’t be accessible until January 2022.

I have no idea how this is legal or constitutional.

Take Ryan Samsel for example 2/
Arrested 1/30. Defense still awaiting all discovery from DOJ. Ans judges keep going along with DOJs excuses why all evidence, including exculpatory, isn’t fully available.

As one judge said, DOJ charged first, gathered evidence later. “That’s not how this works.”

Status hearing up now for Ryan Samsel. He’s the guy in red hat who speaks with Joe Biggs and Ray Epps before he confronts police on west side of Capitol and breaches barrier. Samsel has been in jail denied bail since January—transferred from DC Gitmo to Northern Neck jail…
where he was attacked too (in both jails.) Defense atty says Samsel has been in solitary since mid-September. Also another detainee not receiving needed medical care for injuries.

Tim Kelly, another gem of a Trump appointee, presiding.
Dispute over who has possession of Samsel’s medical records. Kelly wants all records turned over to Samsel—long list of records that haven’t been released. He’s ordering jail officials to turn over documents to Samsel’s atty. “we’re frustrated.” Says court made clear order…

Ryan Nichols on @gregkellyusa. He’s speaking from the DC Gulag. He’s confirming what I’ve been hearing, which is J6 detainees will be moved to different facilities after visit by @mtgreenee and @replouiegohmert.

Oh my. Said a general population inmate at horrific DC jail thanked J6 detainees for helping 400 abused inmates get moved out and asked Ryan to help him get moved out.

We can’t tolerate inhumane, abusive treatment of prisoners anywhere.
“We feel a of love from the people but a lot of hate from the government.” Indeed.

Nichols hasn’t seen his children since February.

I’m working on a piece about what Nichols saw in west terrace tunnel. Absolutely mind-blowing.

Presiding judge is Trevor McFadden, who has denied bond for a number of J6 defendants. (Trump appointee, another mistake.) On Wednesday, Judge Lamberth released Chris Worrell, a cancer patient, based on cruel treatment in DC Gulag and concerns over abuse by prison guards.

For the past few years, I’ve speculated that Sergei Kislyak was in on the Russian collusion hoax. Today’s indictment is best evidence so far that he was:
My 2019 piece: “Kislyak visited the Obama White House nearly two dozen times, including at least twice in October 2016. He met with Susan Rice on October 7, 2016, the same day intelligence officials issued the warning about Russian election interference.”
