Today is my last day @ThePrintIndia. I spent 3.5 years here, covering politics, people, society and human rights. From the anti-CAA movement to the Delhi carnage, from multiple state elections to the tragic Covid-19 waves, I learnt essential ground reporting here.
Sharing some of my work here. My first major assignment here was co-leading a flagship project 'My543' in the run up to the 2019 elections— a 360degree analysis of India's 543 electoral constituencies and the work done by its MPs. theprint.in/my543-lok-sabh…
I also started a video series called #PoliTicker-- where I gave a summary+analysis of the most interesting political event of the day in under 1 minute.

This was my first longish ground report: the rape and murder of a 23-year-old woman from Unnao. In this piece, I explored the intersection of caste, gender and sexual violence that goes beyond one case. theprint.in/india/low-cast…
Not long after violence hit UP did we see bloodbath on the streets of the national capital.
A deep-dive from Kerala where I travelled across the Christian-majority districts to understand how the Church was fuelling 'love jihad' propaganda in the state theprint.in/india/theyre-t…
During the second Covid wave, I travelled across multiple districts of UP and MP tracking the human cost of the failing health infrastructure. A thread of my stories here:
Story from Kerala on families of those who had fled the state to join ISIS in Afghanistan. Taliban broke open jails where they were captured, and now their families are urging Indian govt to bring them back and try them as per Indian law. V heartbreaking theprint.in/india/taliban-…
How the 'love jihad' bogey being peddled by Church in Kerala was hurting Muslim businesses and society in the state theprint.in/india/how-kera…
A huge thanks to my editors who trusted me with these stories. Thank you to everyone who has read and appreciated my work. See y'all soon :)

Reporting from Agra: Amit Jaiswal was an RSS worker followed by PM Modi on twitter. The huge poster of Modi that had adorned the back of his car for many years is now gone. His sister tore it off the day Amit died of Covid after their pleas went unheard. theprint.in/india/rss-work…
"Amit ne poori zindagi PM modi ke liye nikal di. Modi ne uske liye kya kiya? Aise PM sahab ki humein kya zaroorat? Humne poster phaadh ke nikaal diya (Amit spent his entire life fighting for PM Modi. What did Modi do for him? We tore off his poster)"- Amit's family.
"If someone said anything remotely critical of about Modi-Yogi, he would threaten to beat them up"
Just months ago, Amit had also gone to Ayodhya to put free LED posters of 'Ram Janmabhoomi'.
This time last year, 19 people part of the #antiCAA protests were killed in Uttar Pradesh. I'd travelled to various districts of the state which saw heightened violence, police brutality, and mass arrests. Here are some stories that tell the horror. Never forget.
