Scholastically speaking, Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab was as qualified to speak on matters of religion as a post-millennial YouTuber.
This seems like a joke but it is not.
Hanbalis have a 7 tier hierarchy of scholarly rank ranging from Absolute Mujtahid (the four Imams), down to Muslim laity (YouTubers, Ibn Abdul Wahhab and myself).
Ibn Abdul Wahhab is never mentioned amongst the in-house ’tabaqat’ biographies of Hanbali scholars, which have been recorded since Imam Ahmad, as he was never inducted into the scholarly chain of transmission. His brother, Sulaiman, who condemned him, is.
To claim that Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab was a ‘scholar’ reveals ignorance (often innocent) of how authority has been acknowledged and documented within the Hanbali madhab for over a thousand years.
“He [MIAW] said ‘If I was able to get to the Chamber of the Messenger, I would destroy it... taken the jewels from it and left it as wood’. Didn’t he hear: ‘whoever shows reverence for the Symbols of Allah, shows piety of his heart?’”{22.32}.
~ Imam Sulaiman Ibn Suhaim [d.1773]
“Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab was shown to have reached the level of a false Prophet and a liar of the same capacity as Musailimah, Sajjah the false Prophetess, Tulayha & others. As for his father, he was a pious man.”
~ Imam Abdullah Ibn Dawud al-Basri (d.1810), Heresiographer.
“Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab and his followers are people of innovation because they contradict all of that which has been handed down.”
~ Hanbali Scholar & Judge, Muhammad Ibn Fairuz [d. 1801] responding to Wahhabi da’wah just prior to the movement’s bloody invasion of Mecca.
Hanbali Imam Isa Al-Qaddumi (c.1774) was instrumental in preaching against the Wahabbi movement, delivering letters to and from ulema, warning about their impending plight. This Imam, like others, classified the Wahabbi movement as Khawarij.
Imam Muhammad Ibn Gharib [d.1794] initially kept quiet during the Wahhabi takeover. He was soon snitched on by a cult spy who earned his trust, having him disclose his real views of the cult as evil murderers. Refusing to retract his statements, cult authorities had him executed.
Islamic scholars who opposed Ibn Abdul Wahhab at the time often referred to him as the “Najdi Shaykh”, with an intended connotation, equating him to the elderly man from the Najd who appeared in the seerah of the Prophet ﷺ and turned out to be the Devil incarnate.
Imam Abdul Aziz Ibn Sulaiman followed the legacy of his father resisting the cult, while continuing to pass on the scholarly chain of the Hanbali madhab. He became a Qadi and in his lifetime saw lands of the Muslims taken back from the cult. MIAW’s sons were of the movement, yes.
“Every Imam is required to push people away from this astray innovator [MIAW]. The ummah has documented the madhabs in the best way... What does this ignorant fool know about the Book & Sunnah?!”
~ Major authority of the Hanbalis of his time, Imam Muhammad as-Saffarini [d.1775]
"The followers of M. Ibn Abdul Wahhab believed that they were Muslims and that whoever opposed them were idol worshippers. By doing this, they declared the killing of the scholars and laymen of Muslim Orthodoxy as permissible."
~ Hanafi Judge, Imam Muhammad ibn Abidin [d. 1836].

Imam Sulaiman Ibn Abdelwahhab swore their were no apostates in his town after MIAW & the Wahhabis declared them kufar. MIAW’s own son-in-law Imam Ibn Gharib said the Wahhabis were extreme in Takfir/killing.
Are you still willing to meet Allah having takfired all these Muslims?
We pray every Muslim and Sunni scholar who they've implied excommunication, has right over them on Yawm Al-Qiyyamah and takes your deeds. And Peace be upon the messenger ﷺ
Let’s see if their arrogance or fear of Allah prevails.
And before they say: “well you slander MIAW!” No. As much as I loathe him and his evil legacy, I would never say he wasn’t Muslim. I only repeat the verdicts of 100s of Ulama which is permissible to do. But here you are takfiring thousands of Muslims AGAINST what Sunni Ulama said
This Thread is full of so many lies, distortions, straw-men, and faulty reasoning of 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗳𝗶-𝗪𝗮𝗵𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗶 sect. But anyone one with a brain can see the striking faults within its reasoning... 🧵
"lie 1:"Miaw didn't mass Takfeer". Well this is absolute non sense for a start. Wahhabi texts testify to mass excommunication as do Sunni Ulama. MIAW waged jihad against surrounding Muslims, which is always against kufar in principle. See here:
Note how they keeps using statements by MIAW to "defend him" as proof of innocence. When in the history of legal inquiry has the statement of the accused been accepted as proof of innocence?? This is a fundamental flaw in Salafi reasoning. See e.g.:
The Salafi-Wahhabi sect consider everyone who didn't hear the Najdi Dawah as ignorant of TRUE ISLAM. 1200 years of ignorance bar Ibn Taymiyyah? And even he thought the dead could hear and that Najd was not Iraq, so he could get cancelled too.
This is partly why the Ulama at the time of MIAW like Imam `Abdullah ibn Dawud Al-Basri [d. 1810], referred to him as a false prophet like Musaylimah, and others referred to "Ibn Abdelwahhab AND HIS DEEN".
Such hypocrisy: MIAW had claimed that "Oh I never said the Ummah was upon misguidance for 600 years!!" Sure. Then how does this movement claim that the people of the past were somehow mushriks but excused? What MIAW denies is exactly what is implied by Salafi-Wahhabis today.
HOW THE EARLY 𝐖𝐚𝐡𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐬 ASSASSINATED ONE OF THEIR TOP SCHOLARS
When sects like the 𝐖𝐚𝐡𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐬 have people who go against their interests, there’s only one way they like to deal with them...
even if it's one of their top scholars… 🧵 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱; ⬇️
𝐖𝐚𝐡𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐬 have a history of mass muderering Muslims This is well documented in their own history books by Ibn Ghanam/Ibn Bishr Of course 𝐖𝐚𝐡𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐬 label those killed as “mushrik” but this is no different from Israel killing Palestinian civilians as evil “terrorists”
How about when 𝐖𝐚𝐡𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐬 turn on THEIR OWN people who no longer serve their interests? Indeed, this happened notoriously when the Wahhabi leader, Abdul Aziz Ibn Saud murdered his own Wahhabi fighters, the Ikhwan, slaughtering them with machine guns supplied by his British
The early Muslims of the first three generations understood as the land of Najd. Keep in mind the following points:
⬇️⬇️
a) When Shaitan came in the form of Ash-Shaikh an- Najdi, it was not thought by those at the council of Dar un-Nadwah that he was from Iraq. This would be impossible as the Muslims had not even made it to Iraq yet.
b) All scholars bearing the title 'An-Najdi' have always been associated with the land of Najd in the Peninsula. We have no evidence of them ever having been associated with the land of Iraq.
An example of another Tawhid is “Tawhid Al-'Afāl”: that is, God is the real Creator of all actions and consequences as explained by scholars like explained by Imam Muhammad Nafis al- Banjari (b. 1148 AH/1735 AD).
The Mu’tazila had denied that Allah creates man’s actions and believed instead that man has his own will and power within himself to control the action. Thus they negated this form of Tawhid.
The point is that to say it's ONLY 3 is a reprehensible bida.
