Poorly Designed Websites Are Damaging Your Product Sales…

Here are 9 mistakes Ecommerce store owners make

(And How You Can Fix Them)

//THREAD//
1. No One Knows What You Sell

Design your website assuming that no one knows who you are

And when they land on your website…

You have 5 seconds to educate or they’re GONE

If they don’t know what your product is, they won’t buy.
2. You Don’t Have A Clear Value Proposition

Your USP tells people exactly what you sell...

What are your benefits?

What makes your product special?

Why should people buy from you vs Competitors?
“High quality” or “best” won’t cut it

So you need a clear message by:

> Using an image that shows your product being used

> A simple and clear tagline

> Bullet points to support the tagline

> Social proof

If you get these down, you will sell.
3. Cluttered And Busy Background

Your page should have one objective

To get the reader to take action

> Widgets
> Graphic
> Buttons

Are usually a distraction

76% of customers prefer navigation over beauty

You're hurting your sales if you don't optimize conversion rates
4. Poor Quality Images

Your images are the main driver of sales

So make your images:

> High quality
> Clear as possible
> Taken on a plain background

Take well lit images for maximum pop.
5. Your Site Is Not Trustworthy

Lack of trust is the #1 conversion killer for ecommerce stores

Increase buyers confidence by adding:

> Contact information
> Marked store hours
> Physical address and phone number

Last time I added trust factors, conversion shot up by 42%
6. You’re Not Setup For SEO

Ranking on Google means you have to choose the right keywords

Use Long Tail Pro to find which keywords are used for your products

And then go through every money making page and optimize the:

> Title Tags
> Meta description
7. Your Onsite Search Doesn’t Work

Most store owners focus too much on Google rankings and not on their own search engine

Up to 30% of customers jump to the search bar on your site

And if they don’t find what they’re looking for, they’ll leave.
8. Your Site Is Not Mobile Optimized

My mobile traffic has overtaken my desktop traffic!

And mobile is the most important factor for my business so I design it FIRST before desktop

You should do the same.
9.You Are Careless With Your Site

Have you ever shopped on your own website?

Many owners are too focused on Google Analytics and never check out their own store

Here are careless mistakes you should check for:
> Broken images
> Grammar Errors
> Too many popups
> Slow loading pages
> Slow loading pages

To fix your store, you have to be your own customer.
Just because you’re hosted on Shopify or BigCommerce, it doesn’t mean you’ll make sales.

So improve your conversion rate by getting opinions on your store:
Is your store trustworthy?
Is the product appealing?
Would you shop there?

Tackle these and your conversion will skyrocket
