“The hierarchy (of Opus Dei) is aware of these practices,” said Sebastián Sal, the women's lawyer. “It is an internal policy of Opus Dei. The search for these women is conducted the same way throughout the world. ... It is something institutional.”
The women's complaint, filed in September with the Vatican Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, also points to dozens of priests affiliated with Opus Dei for their alleged “intervention, participation and knowledge in the denounced events.”
The allegations … are similar to those made by members of another conservative Catholic organization also favored by St. John Paul II, the Legion of Christ [which] recruited young women to become consecrated members of …Regnum Christi, to work in Legion schools & other projects
For information about how the Opus Dei-linked Catholic Information Center in D.C. appears to influence the selection of Republican federal court judges, see @craigunger’s book.
“Although he left Washington at perhaps the height of his fame, McCloskey’s legacy is the ongoing influence of the Catholic Information Center. The center’s board includes Leonard Leo, executive vice president of the Federalist Society”
“White House counsel Pat Cipollone is a former board member [of the Catholic Information Center], as is William P. Barr
…
The small center — its members and its leaders — continue to have an outsize impact on policy and politics.”
Opus Dei has its roots in fascist Spain.
Its founder, Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer, was reportedly a supporter of Franco.
Many members were recruited from Spain's wealthy and powerful families, and members were allowed to serve in Franco’s government.
The [Catholic Information Center] posthumously honored Scalia with its fifth annual St. John Paul II Award for the New Evangelization. Scalia was an associate justice on the U.S. Supreme Court from 1986 until his death Feb. 13 at age 79.
Trump went to the D.C. Appeals court and was granted a stay, blocking the Archives from releasing documents to the Jan 6 Committee while appeal is pending.
Folks are asking why these judges granted him such a stay. I don’t know how that process works, or whether these three were even involved that decision.
The biggest problem with his indictment is that he is still trying to claim that the Dossier was instrumental in forming the basis/predicate of the Carter Page FISA and Crossfire Hurricane.
That is false, and it shows that his work has an agenda.
That said, the information in the indictment does appear to show intentional dishonesty by Sussman and others in this process.
Just because someone was trying to expose Trump doesn’t mean that they should get away with lying to/misleading investigators.
RAGA AGs - internally referred to as “generals” - held “war games” sessions before the election, to develop contingency operation plans for a Trump loss.
Every GOP office holder - political, law enforcement, judicial or otherwise - becomes an organ of the strategy.
