It's 14th November, where we all celebrate the Children's Day in India, at the same time, one of the most loved guy in the Cricketing World will celebrate his birthday in New South Wales, Australia.
A Stalwart and a Champion of modern era...
Happy Birthday @gilly381
Back in 90's, the primary role of a WK was to keep behind the stumps with perfection, and the runs scored deemed as a bonus. But with the arrival of Gilly, the revolution came in.
With a brilliant 81(88) in his debut test at Brisbane, he stamped his authority. @gilly381
More than 5500 runs in 96 tests with a stunning sr of 82 and 9619 runs in 287 ODIs speaks volume.
He was a big game player and very reliable at the top. 54, 57, 147 was his score in 3 wc finals, he played a massive role in that golden era of Australian cricket. @gilly381
His partnership with Hayden in limited overs cricket was nothing less than a nightmare for bowlers.
He was a true hero in 2001 Ashes as he scored 340 runs with an avg of 68 as Australia went on to win the series. His 57 ball 100 at Waca will be remembered forever. @gilly381
Agressive approach in the middle and a true gentleman off the field made him a true ambassador of our beautiful game. We all Indian fans suffered a lot by that Australian team back then , but there's always a soft corner for Gilchrist.
A Champion adored by everyone.
@gilly381
Coming back to IPL, without a lot of great players, his brilliant leadership skills helped DC to win the title against all odds. In a knockout game he scored 85(35) , in 2009 this was unimaginable to think of.
He was a prime example of captain leading from the front.
@gilly381
He is one of the few overseas players who is loved by Indian fans. During his stint with Punjab, we all loved his dance in Dharamshala where he finished his career with a wicket. A perfect script indeed.
His 122m six is still somewhere in Himalayas. @gilly381
A cricket career with 3 cricket world cups, numerous beautiful moments in Ashes history, one IPL trophy, inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame speaks volume about the legend...
You will always remain my fav. Wish you a very happy birthday @gilly381

❤️ from 🇮🇳🏏 #Cricket
