The GitHub account @sullideals was created on June 13. That same day, now-suspended Twitter account @sullideals shared several pictures of Muslim women. The user's bio carried the link to “Sulli Deals” on GitHub.

“Sulli Deals” became popular on July 4 when several women on Twitter found their pictures on the app. That same day @sdfrgt4rf bragged about creating the app. He shared screenshots of the app’s backend and source code, proving that he had access.
On July 22 @dankchikitsak associated with one Krunal Patel shifted the blame to a Muslim youth Zaved Alam, claiming he confessed to creating "Sulli Deals". But the alleged confession happened on July 24 (see Telegram chat date). How did he know about a chat from the future?
5/14
The alleged Telegram chat took place between Zaved Alam and a user named @not_sameen. (@dankchikitsak had shared screenshots of the chat on July 25 after speaking about it on July 22 first.)

The account @not_sameen was an imposter handle. Krunal Patel himself told @AltNews it was run by a man. A Pakistani woman's images were misused by the handle. The same Pakistani woman was earlier "rated" on a YouTube Livestream by Ritesh Jha aka @LiberalDogeReal.

.@newslaundry had published a piece on Ritesh Jha, a 23-year-old from Bihar.
.@LiberalDogeB (Jha's second Twitter account) had cheered @sdfrgt4rf for creating "Sulli Deals" on July 4. Twenty days later, he blamed Zaved Alam.

The police can track down the Twitter handles that claimed responsibility (@sullideals, @sdfrgt4rf, @sullideals786), just the way the Mumbai police found the youth who posted a rape threat to Virat Kohli's daughter.
The police could reach out to GoDaddy, the registrar of the aforementioned domains, to find out payment details, including credit card details, to track down those who registered the domain names.

To find the people behind "Sulli Deal", at this point in time, is only a matter of willingness.
The past few days of tasteless communal reporting by mainstream media on violence against Muslims brings us to a story not being talked about enough - 10 people arrested in Ujjain for allegedly chanting 'Pakistan Zindabad'. NSA invoked against four.
THREAD
Videos of a Taziya function held a day before Muharram were reported by the media as 'proof' of the slogans being raised. The videos were picked up from social media and reported at face value. No verification.
The issue blew up after BJP MP leaders led by city chief Vivek Joshi met Ujjain SP and demanded that strict action should be taken against those who raised slogans of “Pakistan". He also lightly threw in "Taliban slogans" because why not?
To give a background - BJP leaders, including Mr Patra, alleged that Congress prepared a 'toolkit' to target BJP. The format of a genuine 6-page AICC research on Central Vista was poorly copied and its letterhead forged...
to create a 4-page 'Congress toolkit'. Now Twitter allows only four pictures to be shared per tweet. So most tweets from yday have shared four out of six pages of the genuine doc and four pages of the forged one.
.@Facebook recently removed 'false information' warning from a video shared by BJP's @himantabiswa. This led Biswa to further his false narrative. The tech giant claimed it doesn't fact-check politicians but the reality is that it does sometimes...when convenient.

Here's a fact-check warning placed on Congress leader Udit Raj's post. In fact, Facebook had also added a similar warning on a post by BJP's Tajinder Bagga. (2/6)
Facebook banned political ads in the run-up to US Presidential elections and has now extended the policy for at least a month keeping Georgia Senate runoffs in mind.
Will it mirror the policy ahead of WB polls, a state nine times more populated than Georgia?
A couple of weeks ago, an @IndiaToday anchor was trolling @AltNews for a typo in one of our reports. It's flattering that we are held to such high standards but everybody would be better off if spelling mistakes were the only kind of errors @IndiaToday and @aajtak made.

The channels aired a video of Sushant Singh Rajput dancing with his choreographer as his niece. This was to 'prove' that he had a good relationship with his family.
A reminder that both platforms of the India Today Group have dedicated fact-checking desks. In fact, the English vertical is a Facebook fact-checking partner and signatory to the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN).
A Delhi-based NGO 'Call for Justice' had submitted a fact-finding report on Delhi riots to Amit Shah at his residence. The report, which attempts to blame the Muslim community for the riots, is full of fake news.

A blatant lie that anti-CAA protests did not attract support from the international community features on the report.
.@TV9Bharatvarsh thinks Maulana Saad is an Islamic preacher by the day and a superhero by the night. Think Kitty Pryde from the X-men.

In an April 18 broadcast, TV9 claimed that a secret underground tunnel runs through Nizamuddin Markaz.
During the show, images of the tunnel were flashed which the anchors claimed were shot by TV9, yet the footage carried the words ‘सांकेतिक वीडियो’ meaning ‘representational video’.
