It took me a while to understand why web3 is so important.

Now, I'm pretty much addicted.

Here are 11 reasons why I decided to go all in ๐Ÿ‘‡

1/ Incentives

Web2:
1) Growth Stage: Platforms โค๏ธ Users
2) Post IPO: Platforms ๐Ÿ’” Users

Decentralized protocols give all network participants upside through tokens.

Protocols serve the community; platforms serve the shareholders.

Web3 aligns incentives.

(h/t @cdixon)
2/ Portability

- Web2 users don't own their data, they rent profile pages from platforms (hard for users to leave)

- Web3 keeps data & infrastructure separate which enables data portability

- Data Permanence & Immutability

(@ArweaveTeam & @viamirror)

3/ Capital Coordination

- Through DAOs, organizing people & capital around the world becomes as easy as publishing a tweet.

- Joint Stock Corporation --> LLCs --> DAOs

- Bottleneck rn: DAO tooling --> once UX is intuitive, we'll see a flood of new DAOs
4/ On-chain credentials

- On-chain credentials will bring the tasking economy mainstream

- Pseudonymous Identities & remote work becomes standard

- Resumes are provable and bias is removed

- Web3 helps disrupt the concept of a 9-5

5/ Cryptonetworks

Web2: Building networks through platforms ("Uber for x")

Web3: Building networks through economies ("x to Earn")

Play-to-earn (@AxieInfinity)
Learn-to-earn (@rabbithole_gg)
Publish-to-earn (@viamirror)
Store-to-earn (@ArweaveTeam)

6/ Ownership

- Web3 users own their work & can monetize their content however they want

- Tons of creativity on how to organize capital in web3 (@viamirror, @SyndicateDAO)

- My favorite example: @nounsdao uses a daily NFT auction to grow their treasury

7/ Skin in the game

- 10th Uber employee has generational wealth, 10th Uber driver is making less than when they first started

- Tokens give all stakeholders a chance to a network's potential upside

- Crypto makes everyone an investor (h/t @balajis)

8/ Commitments

- For the first time in history, we can have code serve as a source of truth

- All networks will be decentralized through code commitments

- No need for trust. The rules are baked into the smart contract

9/Metaverse-IRL Connectivity

- Web3 is not just about being on Discord/VR, it's bringing us a new lifestyle

- Think about how apps like G-Maps/Uber changed how we interact with the world

- NFTs (@cryptovenetians) & DAOs (@FWBtweets) are doing the same

10/ Community

- Data portability & ownership make it very easy for people to leave protocols (forks, Arweave)

- Web2: Metrics
Web3: Mission

- Building a strong, positive community that enjoys working together is the key to a successful protocol

11/ Composability

- Because everything in web3 is open source, people are focused on building out new ideas (Digital Renaissance)

- Web3 will grow at a much faster rate than web2

โ€œComposability is to software as compound interest is to financeโ€ @cdixon

Quick explaination ๐Ÿ‘‡ Image
1/ Just like countries, blockchains have a purpose, structure, and rules.

Each blockchain (i.e. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana) has its own advantages & disadvantages.

Some blockchains do certain tasks faster and cheaper than others.
2/ Blockchains can't communicate with each other and are siloed off.

For example, if I hold btc, I can't use it on a protocol that runs on the Ethereum blockchain.

We need a medium to move back and forth between chains (interoperability).

gm, I have a cool life update!!!

A month ago, I quit my job to go full time crypto ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Since then, Iโ€™ve been doing deep dives on different web3 products & protocols.

I compiled 10 of my threads to help you better grasp the ecosystem.

Please share if you find them helpful!

From a single blog post covering Axie Infinity, @packyM was able to raise $45,782 (9.56 eth) on Mirror.

Web2 was for the platforms. Web3 is for the creators.

@ArweaveTeam & @viamirror make it possible to own and monetize your content.

Let's see how ๐Ÿ‘‡
1/ Heads up, this thread is long!

After doing some research, it made most sense for me to discuss Arweave & Mirror together.

I decided to dive deeper after I saw @cdixon moved his threads over to Mirror.

2/ Last week, I wrote a thread covering Variant Fund's thesis.

Tldr: Web3 provides a paradigm shift in how we think about the passion economy.

"The creator economy allows you to be your own nation state" - @Cooopahtroopa

Web3 enables people - not platforms - to own and use the value they create.

@variantfund is playing a huge role in making the passion economy a reality for the middle class.

Let me explain how ๐Ÿ‘‡ Image
1/ Typically, I write about specific web3 products & protocols such as Rabbit Hole and Olympus DAO.

But last week, I came across this post by Li Jin announcing that Variant Fund & Atelier were joining forces.

2/ I'm sure many people on crypto Twitter have seen posts around the topics of passion economy and ownership.

I've always had a vague idea of what these topics were, but wasn't able to explain the logic comprehensively.

So I decided to go down the Variant Fund Rabbit Hole.

Ignoring @OlympusDAO today would be the same as brushing off bitcoin in 2010.

Do yourself a favor and go down the Olympus rabbit hole.

It's a genius project that creates wealth and has utility.

Let me explain how Olympus takes currency to the next level.

Thread below ๐Ÿ‘‡
This thread is long, stick with me!

There's a lot of moving parts in the protocol, and I want to make sure I cover the main ones.

Feel free to DM me if you have any questions.
1/ The initial goal of crypto has been to create a decentralized digital currency.

Some people think that after bitcoin goes mainstream, it will be the default value system.

Who knows if that ever happens? And if it does, how long will it take?
