I’ve been told I haven’t followed the Kyle trial closely enough. It’s true; and as a result my comments haven’t touched much on the details. I’m tired. Very tired of yet another meticulous cataloging of why actually a white autocracy-loving dude killing people is actually good.
I’m pretty new to this awareness of how good it actually is to our power structures whenever a white dude kills somebody. It’s always actually VERY good. Every time.
I can only imagine how tired people are who’ve had no choice but to deal with this knowledge their whole lives.
It’s always actually SO good, guys. Every time. If the guy loves autocracy, it is always magnificently good that he killed whoever he killed, b/c of whatever facts surround the killings and whatever we discover about the not-living people, who aren’t victims b/c they deserved it.
I’m really sorry to everyone who cares about civility and due process that I fail to see exactly how actually good and awesome it is every time some autocracy-loving white dude decides that he and his gun are just the thing for a few of the many people who actually need killing.
I know the people he killed were no angels—they never are. Autocracy-loving white dudes with guns are so good at finding non-angels to shoot to death; I guess that’s what makes them awesome at deciding who should live and who should die. I’m sorry for questioning them.
I know he was in danger before he was forced to make the not-angel not-victim stop breathing forever in a bullet-related way; autocracy-loving white dudes are always getting attacked! I guess that’s why they need semiautomatic rifles when they go to Dennys and shit.
I’m sorry, truly sorry, for not paying sufficient attention to the latest official discovery of all the reasons that an autocracy-loving white dude going to a conflict zone with a corpse-making tool and making some corpses is actually the foundation of freedoms I enjoy etc.
I know, it’s not as good when the person defending themselves isn’t an autocracy-loving white dude. I’m trying to learn why, I promise.
Anyway I’m sure this instance of an autocracy-loving white dude killing people is just as good and necessary as all the many many other instances of that happening, and I promise to do better at understanding why it’s so awesome and good and freedom etc when that happens.
I know that we’re all meant to understand that if someone isn’t an angel they should be killed and therefore we ought to be grateful, not disturbed, when an autocracy-loving white dude, with or without a badge, performs this vital civic function. I’m sorry to be so ungrateful.
I apologize for not sufficiently understanding the full extent to which the most recent instance of an autocracy loving white guy killing some people is every bit as legal as all the other times that has happened. Again, apologies to all.
But by beating Republicans in elections don’t Democrats risk losing the very centrist swing voters whose support they’ll need to win the next elections?
This is why I, a senior Republican election strategist providing Democrats with election strategy in the paper of record, strongly recommend that Democrats lose all their elections; if they insist on winning some elections, they’ll surely pay for it the next election cycle.
By losing all their elections, Democrats will send a clear signal that they are willing to compromise on the issues centrist voters value, such as whether or not Democrats should be allowed to win elections. Complete surrender is the only path that can carry Democrats to victory.
Earlier this year conservatives were fighting the Seuss estate for updating their racial awareness from 1950 and now they’re fighting Sesame Street over basic public health.
Like what even the fuck is wrong with them? Never mind the shitty policy. It’s so embarrassing.
The big tent party of small limited government going to war with Dora the Explorer because of her “woke” scolding of swipes, and burning their cardigan sweaters because Mr. Rogers asked us to be kind.
Future generations in coming decades are going to sift through the documentary evidence of whatever remains of this country and wonder why we didn’t immediately remove all Republicans from power, given their goals, intentions, actions, and words.
"On one side, there are the people who are directly affected by the issue, who speak to the harm caused by it from the perspective of their lived experience; and on the other side, there are those who are not."
One thing that the Rittenhouse trial throws into stark relief is a strongly held belief among a huge percentage of white conservatives that people protesting for Black lives should be killed, and that white conservatives should be allowed to personally do it.
They are protecting their right to self-defense as exclusive to white conservatives.
No white conservative with a gun can ever be deemed a threat worthy of self defense.
The immediate danger they clearly pose must always be deemed pre-facto AND post-facto self-defense.
They are protecting their right to pre-and-post justification of any threat they pose and any violent act they commit, their right to frame their violence and only their violence as self defense, their fear and only their fear of bodily threat as valid.
