Also very short-lived, less than 40 years

Russian Wikipedia is kind enough to provide construction photos

I notice two things - the foundation of the cathedral appears to have been excavated - and the domes were in place long before it being finished

Here's my interpretation

This "cathedral" was built on a pre-existing foundation
Something was there before - and a mysterious event completely absent from history books destroyed it

Noticing that Western Europe has preserved a lot of its historical architecture ...

... while Eastern Europe has very little of it, the conclusion is pretty clear

There was a war, a big one - and the East lost it. Badly.
The winners were ruthless, they completely obliterated the cities of the vanquished

And they erased their history

The peoples of the East now learned that they never had any culture, they had always been illiterate and barefoot - and all human achievement came from a small strip of land in Western Europe

How nice of them to tell us where their base of operations is

Furthermore, if there's any truth to the date of construction given, this disaster must have happened no later than the middle of the 19th century

The weaponry used in the war must have been of such destructive power that it caused an environmental disaster

It is my firm opinion that the "mud flood" never happened - the layer of soil covering the first floor of all old buildings was simply the fallout of the giant detonations raining back down

Judging by the few remaining pictures, the weaponry used plasma

As for the second thing - the domes being already in place

The domes served as electrostatic power sources

In turn, this means that "churches" originally served as utilitarian spaces

After them being dismantled, a religion was invented to cover it up
