Every day since he took office, Joe Biden and his team have worked with Democrats on the Hill and across the country to help America recover from the pandemic and prepare for a new era of prosperity, opportunity and leadership in the decades ahead.
The results so far have been stunning. 7 million jobs created. Economic resurgence. Almost 200 million Americans vaccinated. Once BBB passes the Senate a total of nearly $5 trillion invested in the American people--the biggest such investment in our history.
When it passes it will also mean the biggest investment in saving the climate in our history. Huge reductions in child poverty. Big savings on medications. Pre-K for all. Home care.

The first year has also seen an end to America's longest war, a restoration of US standing.
Alliances have been revitalized. A global minimum tax will ensure companies pay their fair share everywhere. Polls showing American approval ratings near record levels...after the record lows of the Trump era.
No matter how old you are, you have never lived through a year like this--a country facing so many challenges and doing so much not just to overcome them but to embark on a new era of growth. Savor it. Appreciate how far we have come.
There's plenty of work to be done. But what a start. Thanks to all on the Biden team, on the Hill and across the country who made it possible.

The GOP speeches in today's Gosar debate give us a chance to see the current state of that party's "thinking" regarding their 2022 positioning It is all lies about the Biden economy & tapping into post-COVID frustrations seasoned with words they don't understand like socialism.
With the passage of BBB, Biden's first year record will be truly historic...and something to run on. Massive job creation, economic growth, help for those in need and, in all likelihood, a robust, vibrant economy.
Dems must drive home those points. But...they also must challenge each and every one of the GOP lies. And they must call out the threat the GOP represents to democracy. Trump, 1/6, violence, racism...the GOP owns this and Dems represent the only alternative.

Throughout my time in DC, certain economists & special interests have used the threat of inflation as a cudgel to beat back investing in the needs of average Americans. Today's limited price increases are being twisted into the same kind of tool.
While they have many causes, much of what is behind them is associated with doing what was necessary to recover from COVID and the disruptions in supply chains and demand caused by the pandemic. As those pass, in all likelihood they will pass.
How can you tell those who argue for example that we should pass the BBB initiative because it is inflationary are dissembling? Well, first, because many top economists are on the record saying it is not.

Biden-Xi exchange was what the world's most important bilateral relationship demands--communication at the highest level. Admin since the outset has actively engaged China at every level, but leader-to-leader dialogue is an essential piece of that.
Reports on the call suggest it was productive, both sides made clear their concerns, Biden was direct & the fact both men know each other was an added & real benefit. Articles on the call sniping that there were no "breakthroughs" simply don't understand the purpose of the call.
Articles that note there are still tensions in the relationship are stating the obvious. This is part of the process of managing a complex relationship, one of the most challenging, nuanced and consequential in US history.

Woke up this a.m. reading stories about the mess that Biden & Dems had made of this year. Then came news of more job growth--5.5 million new jobs in 9 months. Then, tonight passage of a $1.2 T infrastructure bill and a commitment from House Dems to pass the $1.75 T BBB package.
That will make almost $5T in programs to help Americans in Biden's first year & the 5.5 million jobs & getting 80% of American adults vaccinated & lifting half of kids out of poverty & ending America's longest war & advancing a 15% minimum global corporate tax...
...and appointing more judges more quickly than his predecessors & reversing damaging, dangerous Trump decisions & restoring US approval rating in the world to near record levels (after Trump's record lows) & doing all this despite relentless, irrational GOP opposition.

This Times editorial board piece arguing Tuesday showed that Dems don't want big progressive ideas ignores one small fact: The ideas Biden is promoting are virtually all supported by 2/3ds or more of Americans. His platform is as mainstream as it gets. nytimes.com/2021/11/04/opi…
It also essentially asserts that the elections were a referendum on the BBB ideas with zero evidence to support that idea. It also ignores key factors that drove the results from historical trends to the consequences of post-COVID hangover on public views (like education).
It also ignores the wins of progressives across the country and plays up centrist victories like that of Eric Adams while ignoring that he 1st won in a weighted choice primary against a field in which progressives offset each other and then vs. a joke opponent in the general.

As soon as we get done recognizing that Biden's domestic agenda has led to an unprecedented year of accomplishment, I would like to put in a word for the international agenda.
Contrary to what you may have read, it includes the following:
--Ending the longest war in US history
--Re-entering the Paris climate accords and restoring US to a leadership role in global climate talks (including big climate commitment in BBB package)
--Scoring big victories against the pandemic at home (well over 400 million doses given, nearly 200 million fully vaccinated) but also leading the way in vaccine diplomacy (with a commitment of over 1 billion doses)
