Located south west to #Tirupati with a capacity of 0.48 TMC.
Let me give an example recently happened, #Cheyyeru flood in #Kadapa district.
#Pincha project storage Capacity is just 0.33 TMC n has only 58,000 cusecs
Capacity to release through crest gates during peak flood.
On other hand #Annamayya project downstream to #Pincha project has 2.2 TMC of storage capacity and it can release 2,25,000cusecs through its crest gates.
Last Thursday night #Annamayya project received 1,80,000 cusecs
From its own catchment and its tributaries Mandavya and Bahuda rivers.
#Pincha project ring bund broken on Thursday wee hours, around 1,40,000 cusecs gushed down to #Annamayya project. So totally 3,20,000 inflow recorded at #Annamayya project.
Then it Simply collapsed
at the point of greatest impulsive force, unable to with stand the destructive forces generated by twice the quantity of water gushing in from the upstream. The #Annamayya project burst at 6 AM on Friday causing greatest ever disaster to #Kadapa district. @Indian_Rivers
Now you assume how many upstreams and feeder channels have for #Rayalacheruvu which has a catchment of 111 km2.I can say it won’t be catastrophic like #Cheyyeru incident as it has got limited upstreams and lesser catchment area.Hope it won’t happen, I am praying🙏 @GoTirupati
