1) Well, when I woke up this morning to the reality that food poisoning had set in overnight and spent the whole morning in bed, I was pretty positive that was the most miserable thing today would being. Then a Matt Nagy Bears game happened. (Thread)
2) Another complete personification of the Nagy era. Offense that couldn’t score any points in the first half. Young franchise QB looking lost. Finally doing just enough to win, and then the vaunted D folding on a game winning drive. This is how the Nagy era will be remembered.
3) So this is the end of Nagy. It’s been teetering on the brink for 2 years now and today it went over the edge as Watkins runs free on what should have been a routine put away drive against a QB making the first start and looking bad all day.
4) With a Pseudo bye after playing 2 games in 5 days, I think a loss to the #Lions may actually result in Nagy being fired on Black Friday in opposed to Black Monday. Yeah, yeah I know. They never do. Well the rules changed and allows them to start their HC early. It can happen.
5) Once again the defense collapsed on a ‘layup’ of a put away drive. Feels like a good time to point out they outspend 2:1, D:O in both current cap and first rounders since 2016. Assets MUST be redistributed from D to O this off-season. It’s not a way to build a winner.
6) Sounds like Fields avoided any long term injuries. I think the timing means you should hold him out from the game in 5 days, but we’ll see.
7) I don’t want to hear about injuries. BAL had plenty themselves.
8) Good to see Jenkins involved on the sidelines. Soon, I hope.
9) The people proclaiming this is “what the O looks like without Arob” are just silly. This is what the O looks like with no real WRs (except Mooney) and instead a bunch of track stats in helmets. They didn’t miss the overhyped number 2 who has 330 yards to date. Get real ones.
10) So this is essentially another wasted season that’s all but over by the time the Turkey hits the table. Positive, at least we can tune in to see JF fit with the other young guys who will be around going forward.
1) I think the #Bears fully intended to fire him after Thursday. However, I think this leaking may cause them to back out if they win. The optics and images on the business side are prioritywith the McCaskeys over football and firing this way is a bad look.
2) With that said, I think they absolutely did tell him today that he would not be the Bears HC in 22 one way or another. Weather they told him Thursday is his last day, or that he needed to win to keep the job as an audition for the next 6 weeks is anyones guess…
3) As much as I don’t want him anywhere near my football team, I do feel for Matt Nagy as a person. He’s clearly very hard working and invested. By all accounts a nice guy. He’s just not any good at his job, and his personal brand has gotten him 2 more years than he should.
1) Wow, how far we have come from the feeling after the Cleveland game. Refreshing to say the least. I had previously talked about the fact if the Bears could manage at worst 2-4 over this 6 game stretch they could make noise this winter. Need 1-4 now.
2) Obviously that’s the floor, not the goal. This team has the makeup and feel of a team that can really peak at the right time. Memo to the NFC—better bury them early because you don’t want this defense and running game combined with a more experienced JF in January. More later.
3) I like the makeup of this offense and I think a skeleton for success is there. Lazor undeniably has a far superior grasp of personnel and game feel. This offense can work off IZ proficiency and PA. They have a stable of backs that can keep all 3 fresh and healthy for Dec.
