I’m on my way to an event that is “business attire” but as I conduct no business I’m not sure I got it right. I am wearing 3 inch heels instead of my usual 6 so that will have to count.
My date is @rkylesmith so he’ll have to bring up the business end of this partnership.
It's 37 degrees in NYC today and kids at public schools around the city are still eating lunch sitting on the ground outside. Grown-ups who enact these policies should try it!
After you are done eating on the ground, make sure to put your mask back on and not take it off again. This is what New York demands of kids. Our governor, who forced masks back on 2 year olds, galavants around maskless. At 63yo, she's far more at risk than a toddler.
I guess people were unaware NYC kids eat on the ground outside? Yes, it's true. They sit on concrete outdoors for lunch. For safety, you guys, for safety.
I have no take on this story. I am sharing information. These are the factual details. The one detail I have that is unconfirmed is his Twitter account which, anyway, is not that interesting and hasn’t been updated in a long time.
Every time one of these hits, I think "hmm, I learned about that at my Orthodox Yeshiva in Brooklyn." Now, either I went to world's most woke Yeshiva...in the 80s, or you all go to bad schools where they don't teach you history. Bring all history back and this won't be an issue.
It's not that kids don't learn black history. They don't learn any history. Every year when the shock poll comes out that kids don't know about the Holocaust, it's because we've decided history is not a subject kids need to know. Our public school history curriculum is pathetic.
Firefighters in NYC warning New Yorkers of the vaccine mandate consequences.
Firefighters also passing around an undated video of @NYCMayor giving a speech about closing firehouses and how "the government is here to serve us and not the other way around" and "there is nothing more important than protecting the safety of our people." Whoops.
Here's that video of @NYCMayor when he believed that firefighters are important.
"How was picture day?"-me "They made us wear masks for the class picture so I didn't smile because no one could tell anyway."-my 8yo.
I told this story in my piece about our time in Florida last year but my daughter's softball team in Palm Beach County took a maskless group pic last...February. When does NYC catch up? city-journal.org/a-lifelong-new…
Ppl asking if class pics were outside. Of course! We live in crazytown. To go to a Halloween fair at my kids' school I had to show my vax card (a sad non-English-speaking grandma lacked hers and couldn't come in), fill out health forms for everyone and yes, still mask, outdoors.
On the plus side I'm home all day with the kid who talks nonstop about random history so I learned about various Napolean battles (and how if he could pick to have any brain in history he'd pick Napolean's) and about how Celts started Halloween. Maybe I need the homeschooling.
He's whittling down a stick (with plastic knives because his mean mom won't let him use a real one) to make a harp. "Just went through my 6th knife," he says glaring at me.
