🧵Today both BBC and Skynews was bragging about the UK strategy of opening up early on 19th of July resulting in a relatively better situation than Germany, Netherlands and Austria - but at what cost?
Look at the cumulative death rate
@Parents_Utd @SafeEdForAll_UK @dgurdasani1
Since 19th July
UK had over 15,000 deaths,
whereas Germany had 7000 deaths
and Netherlands and Australia had around 1200 deaths each

Have we lost all sense of perspective!

@doctorshaib @Dr2NisreenAlwan
UK has also had the highest hospital admissions in almost all peaks including the recent one
And a confirmation in terms of cumulative excess death per capita.

Just because some other countries are doing worse in the recent week or so --- does not make our handling of the pandemic any better
