🧵If it's not a social contagion, what is it?

It astounds me that there are still so many people out there who refuse to believe we're dealing with a social contagion of gender dysphoria. Surely there's never been a more obvious one in all of history./1

I mean, if it's not a social contagion, how do we explain this sudden, dramatic surge in numbers? Isn't it at least possible that something occurred in our culture in the second decade of the 21st century that triggered a contagion of gender dysphoria in teenagers?/2

What could it be? Let's have a look. In 2014 the cover of Time magazine heralded the next civil rights movement with The Transgender Tipping Point. I Am Jazz first aired in 2015, as did Louis Theroux's Transgender Kids. The concept of the trans child had now entered the lexicon/3

🧵For TRAs confused about women stickering

Just over a week ago, a terrible crime was committed in downtown Ottawa, when a group of women allegedly went around putting stickers on lampposts with messages such as:

woman = adult human female

and

Keep Prisons Single Sex

This prompted a local member of the trans community to do some detective work and name several Twitter accounts, my own included, as suspects. The blog post contains some wildly inaccurate misrepresentations of the gender critical movement./2

The best quote is this one:

"they're trying to frame trans rights as being at odds with women's rights"

There is no more perfect example that trans rights are "at odds with women's rights" than saying that the dictionary definition of woman is a transphobic hate crime./3

When I first learned about the atrocity being committed in paediatric gender clinics, I imagined that when it finally came under scrutiny, the house of cards would collapse in an instant./1

But now having witnessed people ignore Sweden & Finland halting paediatric transition, not bat an eyelid at the damning findings of England's Cass Review, and completely disregard the developments in certain US states, I realise people can ignore any truth no matter how obvious/2

The explanation for this is what psychologist Anthony Greenwald calls the totalitarian ego, which he says functions like a police state, suppressing incompatible evidence, no matter how strong and compelling, and locking away threatening ideas./3

The world of paediatric endocrinology is no stranger to medical blunders. It has one in its past that is eerily similar to the one playing out before our eyes today. It is the medical scandal of treating short boys and tall girls with hormone therapy./1

The experiment began in the 1940s, in the early days of endocrinology, when endocrinologists saw themselves as miracle makers. They had injected insulin into diabetics on their death beds and seen them rise and make a full recovery, and given arthritics mobility with cortisol./2

So when synthetic estrogen (DES) was developed & growth hormone (hGH) extracted from the pituitaries of cadavers, endocrinologists got swept up in the excitement of discovery and turned their focus to correcting the height of healthy tall girls & short boys, with tragic results/3

🧵: Charcot's hysteria and the epidemic of ROGD

In the late 1800s, a brilliant neurologist, Jean-Martin Charcot, triggered an epidemic of hysteria in women of the French upper-middle class. It is one of the best examples of the medical world's ability to shape mental illness./1

After completing groundbreaking research into MS and neurosyphilis, Charcot went astray and became convinced hysteria was an inherited neurological condition. He devoted himself to mapping it. In 1875, he reached his unified theory of the four stages of 'la grande hystérie'./2

Symptoms included convulsions, fits, paralysis, blindness, and hallucinations. But many women only began showing these after being admitted to Charcot's care at the Salpêtrière hospital. However, he was oblivious to the power of suggestibility in shaping his patients' symptoms./3

All over Canada teachers are practising psychotherapy without a licence: affirming and socially transitioning children who believe themselves to be trans, often without the consent or even knowledge of the parents. Yesterday, I sent this letter to almost 3000 school trustees./1

Dr. David Bell said in the recent Genspect conference that the most important area in all of this is not what goes on in gender clinics but what goes on in ideologically captured schools. However, few people in the education system have any idea that they are causing such harm./2

Teachers affirm these children out of a terribly misguided sense of compassion. They really do think they're helping. They don't realise that this is a social contagion, that schools are at the centre of it, and that children are being sterilised as a result of their actions./3
