The SC Senate has unveiled its draft plan for congressional district lines. Note big changes to #SC01, currently represented by @RepNancyMace, and #SC06, currently represented by @WhipClyburn >Old map is on the left and new proposal is on the right, with the pink numbers. #scpol
The big obvious change in the proposal is the way that #SC01 would now hook through more parts of Berkeley County, parts of which were previously drawn into #SC06. >>> #spcol
Let's zoom in even closer: Under SC's current congressional map, places like Jamestown, Shulerville, Huger, Cordesville and Cainhoy (a booming area off Clements Ferry Road in CHS/Mount Pleasant) were #SC06. Under new maps? It would be in #SC01 >>> #scpol#scnews#chsnews
Zooming back out, SC's 6th Congressional District would still include most of the CHS peninsula, the Neck and North Charleston aka Democratic strongholds and in North Charleston a majority minority voting bloc. The tippy, tip of the peninsula would still be drawn into #SC01.
Under the propsed map for SC congressional districts, Charleston's Naval Weapons Station would be part of #SC01 and no longer in #SC06. However, the CHS International Airport would remain in SC's 6th Congressional District. (Old map = yellow +red; Proposed = blue and red) #scpol
A big change under SC's proposed congressional districts can be found on Charleston's peninsula: The College of Charleston, currently in #SC01, would be moved into #SC06 under new district lines. Past maps had #SC01 starting south of Marion Square. Not anymore >>> #chsnews#scpol

1/ Moments ago, South Carolina's two U.S. Senators @LindseyGrahamSC and @SenatorTimScott were among four senators who raised concerns they have about the current coronavirus emergency funding package. Here's the highlights:
@LindseyGrahamSC@SenatorTimScott 3/ What is the concern?
They worry the coronairus package as it currently stands creates a strong incentive for employees to be laid off and seek unemployment benefits instead of going to work.
.@PeteButtigieg opens by saying, “thanks be to God.” He says running for President is about humbling oneself because you go into middle school gyms, diners, churches and looking people in the eyes and asking for support. He admits he is a newcomer who may be unknown. #sc2020
He says that asking for the African American vote is especially humbling because he knows that vote was hard-fought and still faces suppression today. #SC2020
.@PeteButtigieg spends a large portion of his remarks acknowledging his own privilege as a white man without using the term. He makes the point via sharing the differences of the lived experiences of African Americans. #SC2020
1/ Just got off the phone with Mark Sanford, who is in Washington this morning (I could hear the Metro in the background), where he is making media rounds post-announcement. Some highlights from our phone call... #scpol#2020Election#scnews#chsnews#politics
2/ Sanford hopes to begin hiring campaign staff this week. Declaring today was a key part of making sure he can recruit/attract the political talent he needs to run this campaign. #scpol#2020Election#scnews#chsnews#politics
3/ Speaking of running the campaign, this one is unlike any he has done before. Usually very very planned, this campaign is much more incremental (step by step, week by week, month by month.) "That’s the complete opposite of every campaign I've ever run in my life!" #scpol
