These are raw numbers instead of the usual NSSF-adjusted numbers. So, they include things like checks and re-checks for gun-carry permits. But, it's still an interesting comparative measure.
For instance, Black Friday 2017 and 2019 did better than 2020 or 2021. The week of Black Friday also doesn't crack the top 10 in NICS weeks for any year. That's despite there being 687,788 for the week this year.
I try to avoid using the raw NICS numbers anymore because a lot of big states re-check their gun-carry permit holders every single month. That disconnects the raw numbers from accurately representing gun sales more than ever before. That's why I like to use NSSF-adjusted numbers.
The FBI doesn't provide the necessary breakdowns for single days for NSSF to do the adjusted numbers and I wouldn't think it would have a big impact on a single day, though. So, I think the Black Friday numbers are still relevant.
It's interesting how little 2020 shows up in the single-day or single-week rankings. I don't think anyone expects 2020's record gun sales numbers to be surpassed by 2021. That suggests the demand in 2020 was more spread out and consistent than 2021.
