@DavidVStewart A true analysis. Your use of the term "State Cult" gave me an idea. I believe it is possible to distinguish between a "State Cult" and the Death Cult.

The Death Cult is well known to us. Inherently satanic and with its firm but disguised core of man-seeking "values"

1/x
@DavidVStewart There is also a distinct "State Cult". Unlike the Death Cult, the "values" pushed by the State Cult are not anchored in one substantive ideology or "cult". The "cult" of the State Cult is the State itself. I.e. the existence and preservation of the State as an end in itself. 2/x
@DavidVStewart As such, the substantive values that may be pushed by a State Cult are directed at the preservation of the State itself. Naturally, individual autonomy and responsibility must be minimised. Responsibility is communal and directed to the "society" at large

3/x
@DavidVStewart This parallels what you observed about the Death Cult in your essay, that its substantive, progressive moral program is communal and collectivised in perspective. It could be said that this communal perspective of morality is a tool that naturally evolved from the State Cult
@DavidVStewart However, the State Cult is different from the Death Cult insofar as the State Cult will push moral programs directed at its preservation, whereas the Death Cult's singular moral program is to push the wickedness of satanism on the earth.

5/x
@DavidVStewart Does supporting traditional values like hard work, discipline, respect for elders/authority contribute to a productive
and obedient population and support the preservation of the State? The State will support those values but couch them in the communal and collective.

6/x
@DavidVStewart The State Cult will also assert that the State is the source and arbiter of those traditional, objectively good values. All good morals proceed from the State as the center of its subjects' existence.

7/x
@DavidVStewart This however means that other moral orderings, such as Christianity and other religions, must be subordinate to the primacy of the State. "Yes, Christianity does teach objectively good moral truths but all authority belongs not to God but to the State."

8/x
@DavidVStewart "Serving God" means serving the State and its needs. The State may not overtly oppress religion, but the association of State and "god" becomes subconsciously ingrained in people's minds

9/x
@DavidVStewart It's not just traditional values that the State Cult may espouse. If it is convenient, expedient and to its ultimate benefit, the State Cult will promote the progressive, humanistic values of the Death Cult.

10/x
@DavidVStewart When would the State Cult do this? When the winds of globalism make it necessary. When promoting international trade and drawing globalised human capital make it necessary to adopt the sacraments of the Death Cult that have permeated the world

11/x
@DavidVStewart Even then, however, the State Cult would only adopt such progressive values insofar as they do not detract from the notion of the State as ultimate moral source and arbiter.

12/x
@DavidVStewart Are traditional, objectively good values important? That's because the State says they are. Are progressive, satanic values important? That's also because the State says they are and only insofar as they do not undermine the State

13/x
@DavidVStewart This is how I would describe societies like Singapore (my own) and China. From inside and outside, SG appears as a chameleon. On the one hand, it has stalwartly espoused traditional values (including values from Christianity)

14/x
@DavidVStewart On the other hand, there is a sense that there is something deeply incompatible with Christianity and State practice in SG, even though the State appears to espouse most of the same values that would please a practicing Christian.

15/x
@DavidVStewart That incompatibility is the worship of the State in the State Cult, and the substitution of God with the State in the minds of religious citizens.

16/x
@DavidVStewart It is why Christians in SG, when publicly speaking out against immorality, prefer to couch their arguments in terms of "maintaining social cohesion" rather than invoking God's Law.

17/x
@DavidVStewart It is why Christians in SG, despite outward professions of conviction to God's Law, would wholly despise a Christian crusader like Trump: ...

18/x
@DavidVStewart It is because the State is truly paramount in their minds and they are sold on the State driven narrative that a man like Trump is inimical to the good ordering of the State.

19/x
@DavidVStewart Ultimately, however, nothing escapes the reach of the Death Cult. A population that worships the State Cult instead of God will transition nicely into worshipping the Death Cult: as long as the State has declared that it is virtuous

20/x
@DavidVStewart We see this happening in SG in recent times, with the mainstream media and social organizations increasingly introducing progressive, Death Cult messaging. In short, the State Cult will give way to the Death Cult, in the same way that Babel is supplanted by Babylon.
