We're onto the Pandemic Bill.
Libs have taken the opportunity to suggest amendments again.
Oh god, the bells again. 🥴
Voting by the amended clauses starts. Lovell doing well to attempt explaining the technical word salad of what's happening.
Davis proposes amendments to clause 12.
There's two. One is that extensions to pandemic declarations must be approved by both houses of Parl with 30 days. Second is that if not approved the declaration is cancelled.
"We don't accept that Parliament should not be the main body".
Bourman has a bit of a slap to the Libs saying that while he'll support them, if they want support on their amendments then they should send them to other MPs before they present them in Parl.
Fiona upset the amendments are similar to what's already been debated.
"The intention of this is still to bring health orders back to Parl every 4 weeks to get debated. This is life & death".
She's saying this would be a terrible thing, says Parl should just 'let them work'.
Yes, she's seriously advocating for Parl to get out of the way of unelected health officials and 'let them work'.
Bach drops the word 'unicameralism'. Noting the delightful grammatical use.
Tania Maxwell seconds Bourman's slap to the Libs, 'you could have at least made a call you were thinking of it'.
Shing does the usual routine. Blah blah govt is always right blah.
Question Time interruption.
This is a set scheduled time.
Pandemic Bill will resume at soon as this finishes (1ish).,
Forgot about them needing lunch 😂 pandemic bill back from 2pm.
We're back!
It will shock nobody that the LibDems support the amendments.
Cumming speaking on the amendments, says both govt & Libs have thrown things at people last minute lol but will support them.
Damn she really gets under Labor's skin. There is pretty much nobody else in the chamber they're consistently that openly disrespectful towards.
Symes gets up & tries to say she's going to 'call this out'. Tries to say amendments are about the Libs 'just not liking the bill'.
She's pissed that Davis took the opportunity to try for amendments one last time & drag the debate out.

Holy shit Symes is going for Limbrick. She isn't meant to do that. Says he talks about integrity but said he'd take any chance to block the bill.
THE ATTITUDE ON SYMES TODAY.
Symes "this isn't a real amendment, it's just them trying to oppose the bill again".
Accuses Davis of abuse of Parl process.
THE GODDAMN IRONY.
The only thing that I'll pay that if there's anyone that knows Parl process in ridiculous technical detail, it's Davis lol
There's only a 1min ringing of the bells for this vote. Some people in the chamber cheered. This was worth cheering. Can't wait to not hear that sound for a few months.
To those asking: all the people agreeing to pass the bill are voting against the amendments.
Bill is now being read a third time.
When called for the "no" there was a few forceful ones 😂
Division (vote) called. Cue bells.
Adem kept his word, turned up for that final vote, stood there and voted no.
The process has officially ended and the Pandemic Bill has passed, thankfully looking a lot less like what got originally tabled.

Bach asks Stitt, Min for Workplace safety, why they allowed MPs to run the debate for so long.
She tries to blame the Libs for delaying the debate.
'Those who elect us would expect us to do whatever it takes to pass legislation to protect health & safety'. #qt
Follows up asking if there's any workplace laws that allow for 25hours of work straight.
Stitt says 'well you care about health so much you should vote for everything we present in future on this'. Yes that was the final response.
Ondarchie *asks very short question if Min for local Govt supports renaming Moreland*.
Leane *yelling for 5min about slave plantation history in the state*.

Pandemic Bill officially kicks off. Comments below.
This stage kicks off with no running sheet, which is unusual. Davis makes a point of this, as well as the continual lack of wider consulatation in the community (again).
Davis listing off all the people in the community who have been affected, and will be affected, by these new powers who have not had the chance to speak and be heard. Wants a proper Parliamentary enquiry into the bill.

Opposition ripping the govt a new one on their inconsistencies on the Pandemic Bill. First it was urgent, then time was 'needed to consult', then next minute it's urgent again even though the other MPs have barely had 12 hours to see the amendments they're meant to debate today.
They're rushing this so much that the basic run sheet for the debate hasn't even been finished & circulated before the debate starts. Symes tries to defend this, says they can start at clause 1 & maybe if still not done after that they can look at a minor delay. Sloppy & chaotic.
You can see why Shing has been tagged as a preselection favourite for the next election. Their favourite narky little attack dog.

Pandemic Bill update 🧵
Been waiting to see if there's a standard evening Herald Sun leak from the govt about news of a deal.
With nothing so far & also no leaks from any MPs saying they've been sent new amendments (would have to happen) it's looking like debate won't resume tomorrow it'll be Thursday.
It is however technically still scheduled for tomorrow but this is never set in stone & can easily just change in the morning. This is where Bernie's comments come from (I assume) as the govt doubled down on this schedule at a briefing this evening which was a bit odd.

Why are they trying to close the borders again? If it's seeded globally already (most likely) you'll achieve nothing anyway & even if it hasn't - what are you achieving, exactly? What you'll keep them locked until there's a new vx? Or until when?
'We just need time for more info' ok how much time? What'll make that end? How many times within that time are politicians going to move the goalposts? This started with '2 weeks to flatten the curve'. Very few people are stupid enough to buy a line like that again at this point.
To the inevitable screeching "are you saying let it rip?!" the question has to be asked, are you saying to start again from zero? Seriously, are you? What do you want here? How much suffering in every other area of life do you not care about if it means you can feed that fear?

Some observations:
You have to admire the absolute commitment of being in stilts.
