Thread: Let’s talk about why the Oxford HS shooter was charged with terrorism, which is incredibly rare, yet much overdue. This is what I teach so I’d like to break it down in a factual, apolitical way
1/8 The why: The prosecutors sentiment that “we must have an appropriate consequence that speaks for the victims that were not killed or injured but also, they were affected, how do they go back to school?"
2/8 “Michigan law states that terrorism is “willful and deliberate act that is all of the following:"
3/8 “An act that would be a violent felony under the laws of this state, whether or not committed in this state.”
4/8 “An act that the person knows or has reason to know is dangerous to human life.
5/8 “An act that is intended to intimidate or coerce a civilian population or influence or affect the conduct of government or a unit of government through intimidation or coercion."
6/8 “There are some questions why the Christmas parade killer wasn’t charged with terrorism yet the Oxford shooter was. Good question, here’s why:
7/8Wisconsin law is worded VERY differently thank MI law and the main focus of it is intent. I believe what he did was terroristic, but WI law isn’t conducive or efficient in charging him with that……perhaps we look at developing a federal law against DT
