I quit selling on Amazon after 1.5 years, then a few months later a DM changed everything

I found selling on Amazon about 3 years ago through the Youtube rabbit hole

I was already making $2-5k profit a month selling shoes

The fact that you could sell pretty much anything on Amazon was very attractive to me

I’d see people selling toys, books, you name it, there were people flipping it via FBA

Also I was at the time living in a dorm so selling 200+ pairs while holding inventory was difficult

Eventually moved it to a storage unit off campus

I finally made the leap to start doing Amazon in summer ‘19 with books

Doing books made a lot of sense because I was in college at the time, so textbooks were everywhere

Textbooks are big 💰 (which is dumb lol)

The next 6 months was spent thrifting for books and hustling them off other college kids

I did decent, ended up making about $11k in total profit but then I ended up stopping once the pandemic hit in spring-summer ‘20

This next period I didn’t really do any Amazon stuff, and spent 8 months trying to build a Facebook Ads agency

Which taught me I HATED clients services, while Amazon had failed, and my agency had failed, I also finished college.

Luckily, through the entire process I had been posting daily on social media so I had around 10k followers total.

It’s now winter ‘21, and I just figured out how to get Nike ungated and to give Amazon a second shot.

Because I was posting about it, I had lots of followers also doing Amazon….

During one binge of Gary Vee content he was going off about how you had to respond to every comment

So I decided I was going to go one step further and DM everyone to spark conversation

long story short one of those DMs was to a random account run by a guy named Garrett

I had also been starting to really connect with people on social, build friendships, get on Zoom calls etc

G and I got talking, got on Zoom, and the stuff he was showing me about Amazon blew my mind

In March we both did around $40k revenue, and we built out a friend group all Zooming and Facetiming daily about Amazon stuff

basically an organic mastermind of friends all hustling together

By summer we’re all now doing $100k/mo revenue, and now I just hit my first $200k month.

About 15% profit.

Long story short, talk about stuff on social media.

There’s people that share your interests, and it’s a lot more fun being able to talk about stuff you might never find others IRL into.

This month I should cross $1M in sales year to date, and next year 2-3m i’m confident will happen.
