1/ Acala’s HyFi

1.1/ What and why of HyFi

To achieve Acala’s mission- providing open, accessible and permissionless finance to everyone on the planet,

Acala is taking hybrid approach called HyFi/ Hybrid Finance where current centralized infra works with Acala’s DeFi

1.12/ HyFi renders seamless experience and access of Acala’s blockchain dapps to the larger userbase of finance of the world

This ensures embedding of DeFi into everyday life and enabling its mainstream adoption

1.2/ How is this achieved?

Acala is working with partners in the tradFi and building infrastructure from ground up

While the CeFi partners are working top down from their large consumer base comprised of millions of users to integrate back to Acala’s DeFi infra

1.3/ Partners

1.31/ One of the partners Acala has established is

Current.com, a fintech provider based in US serving >3million young Americans to be in control of their finances, save, earn etc

1.32/ Once integrated, Acala will be serving this huge userbase through crypto

From user’s side experience is seamless, they wouldn’t even know that they are using crypto/blockchain

1.4/ Progress

- ‘Current’ managed collators & validators are up and running on $ACA

- ‘Current‘+ $ACA co-developed a yield engine where vaults for various token pairs have been developed to earn yields

- Hy-Fi bridge b/w the infras of ‘Current’ & $ACA

2/ Light clients on Polkadot, Substrate

2.1/ Problem:

2.11/ The current client wallet layer such as Infura on Eth which supports Metamask & block chain UIs in general are points of centralization

They act as a single point of failure and affects user security an privacy

2.12/ In Polkadot, a UI or wallet such as polkadot.js or Fearless wallet connects to a node by picking up a hosted node such as OnFinality

Here the communication between the UI and node is not trustless and there is reliance on third parties

2.13 / To mitigate this, a user controlled node is an option but is extremely complicated with high set up time, operations and resource requirements

2.2/ Solution

Parity came up with a third way where a node bundled with UI where UI connects to client which directly integrated inside of it

This option called 'Substrate Connect' is both secure and convenient

2.3/ Substrate Connect consists of

- A javascript library- a Polkadot.js API connected to a bundled node & runs a Substrate compatible node

- a browser extension- a node that can be used by webpages by sharing resources & can connect with multiple blockchains simultaneously

3/ Metaverse using RMRK

3.1/ The RMRK metaverse and land sale will be launched in 2022

It will be a hyper casual environment which can be easily fired up even on mobile phone and

ensures huge accessibility without need for expensive and complicated VR sets or even PC

3.2/ Land can be acquired by buying with $RMRK tokens

3.3/ Other way is to pay harbinger tax for locations with high foot traffic on a recurring basis to attain ownership

When someone fails to pay tax ownership is revoked to the metaverse world

3.4/ Others paying more ownership tax than you can scoop it away the ownership and this helps with price discovery

This tax funds the maintenance of metaverse, operations of community etc
