Today has been pretty awesome! I got to “square off” with AZ’s biggest abortion foe AND my very 1st horror podcast appearance dropped. I’m not quite sure which one makes me feel more badass, but y’all should enjoy them both.
Watch me go head-to-head with Cathi Herrod on Sunday Square Off, AZ’s Sunday morning political show. Be sure to watch all 3 segments.
And after you’ve enjoyed the massacre above, listen to me and the folks at @NightmareFierce talk about the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. See what I did there?Hit the link or find it wherever you listen to podcasts. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/a-n…
And this is the end of today’s shameless self-promotion.

Y'all know my policy about defending white folks from accusations of racism. I don't do it. I'm not about to start now. @katiehobbs is a grown up and an elected leader, so she doesn't need me or anyone to defend her. And, THIS is the apology she should've made the first time.
I know Katie and Talonya, and I can confidently say that my friend Katie harmed Talonya and I'm glad she's taking responsibility. I also believe Talonya doesn't owe Katie the favor of accepting this or any apology. She is hurt and she deserves to honor her feelings.
As a Black woman, I'm all too familiar with discrimination in the workplace, so I believe Talonya was a victim of discrimination. AND I believe Katie when she acknowledges that racial discrimination isn't always immediately obvious to her as a white woman.
Use whatever you want, but you’re always losing when you refuse to be inclusive. And don’t even get me started on the “rich white progressive” nonsense. Isn’t that your fan base? Or do you hop on tables for the Black folks?
And folks who don’t know the difference between Hispanic and Latina/o, or why Latinx is a thing, watch this and re-examine your life.
It is ALWAYS possible to update language is because it is ever-evolving. But if you think language is static because “tradition” then ask yourselves what Latinx people were considered before the late 60s. Oh yeah: White.
ICYMI: I appeared on #SundaySquareOff with Cathi Herrod. For the uninitiated, Cathi is AZ’s “Aunt Lydia.” She runs an evangelical org that produces many of AZ’s most bigoted bills and she’s the state’s most well-known anti-abortion advocate. Part 1.
Greetings from quarantine, friends! I’ve been EXPOSED!
Let’s chat a second about why ALL schools need to implement mask requirements now. A 🧵.
The 7yo has been able to play with her BFF throughout the pandemic. Why? Because her parents were taking the same precautions as ours. They masked in public. They vaccinated. They were cautious. Plus, they’re just lovely people with good sense.
And like most families, they allowed their kiddo to return to her school is CUSD because school should be a safe place. They sent her masked everyday. Unfortunately, many kids in her class were not masked and the majority of the CUSD Board voted to do nothing.
Y'all know that I count Kyrsten as a friend and because of that, I don't often call her out publicly, though she's aware of my opinions. Today, I'm moved to say after reading this that she's dead wrong. washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/…
I think we all know that her view of the filibuster, and more largely, bipartisan compromise, are fiction. Bipartisanship requires that both parties come to the table as honest brokers. Republicans have made it abundantly clear that they are not interested.
Kyrsten says "the filibuster compels moderation and helps protect the country from wild swings between opposing policy poles," but that is fiction. I don't need to repeat how the filibuster has roots in Jim Crow. Others have already said it. Go Google it.
SB 1457, the invasive and insidious anti-abortion bill was amended and passed the House and will be up for a vote on the Senate floor, likely on Monday. If 1457 is not stopped now, it goes to the governor’s desk to be signed into law.
SB 1457 makes sound science and medical treatments illegal. Doctors and patients become felons. It bans abortion based on fetal anomaly diagnosis and disability status. In reality, there are so many toxic layers to this bill that it’s still unclear as to everything it undermines.
A few of the hits:
* Makes IVF illegal (page 1, line 6)
*Criminalizes doctors and patients, with up to 5 years mandatory prison sentence
*Bans abortion based on disability status and fetal anomaly diagnosis (page 18)
