Meadows clearly expects to be prosecuted for underlying election-related crimes, or he wouldn’t have even briefly flipped on others.
Trouble for him is he’d have to cut a deal with the committee, DOJ, the DA in Georgia, all of them.

In that context, Meadows’ book – which mostly praises Trump but also has a few big embarrassing pieces of dirt about him – seems to have been an attempt at funding his legal defense with a book just controversial enough to sell well, but not controversial enough to enrage Trump.
Meadows has been trying to perfectly thread the narrow needle of cooperating without incriminating himself, selling out Trump without enraging Trump, and so on. It would have been difficult even for a smart person to pull off. Meadows, an idiot, has failed spectacularly at it.
So what happens now?
Meadows will soon be indicted for contempt, and it’ll only get worse for him from there. His life is shattered.
