Unofficially known as @TheWorstSenator, Ron Johnson—who constantly goes after vaccines and masking—made headlines after saying “standard gargle mouthwash” might reduce COVID replication. It’s downright embarrassing.

It got to the point where Listerine felt obliged to correct the record.
Meanwhile, Johnson said unvaccinated people were “basically” being put in “internment camps” abroad—a slap to the painful history of communities who have experienced internment camps in our country and around the world.

Johnson appears to have been echoing conspiracy claims by Charlie Kirk and others—which are false. Australia requires quarantine for travelers, vaxxed and unvaxxed, who enter the country. Truth, though—never a strong suit for Johnson.
Meanwhile, on Dec 1—World AIDS Day—Johnson said on Fox that Dr. Fauci “overhyped” AIDS, and is now using “the same playbook” with COVID-19. 750,000 Americans have lost their lives to AIDS. Millions worldwide. Johnson apparently doesn’t care.
Dr. Fauci exasperatedly responded to Johnson’s preposterous comments:
The truth of the matter is: unfortunately for Wisconsinites, this constant embarrassment over our Senator is not new. Johnson’s been dismissing the seriousness of the pandemic from the beginning, questioning the efficacy of masks, undermining vaccines, and pushing quack science.
And as ridiculous as Johnson’s remarks might seem, they’re costing lives. COVID-19 cases in Wisconsin are surging. Johnson must be held accountable.
Why is Johnson doing this? He’s catering to an extreme-fringe base. This strategy is how he won his reelection in 2016—and how he plans to win his 3rd term in 2022. He thinks he knows what his voters want to hear. He’s giving to them, even if it kills them.cnn.com/2021/09/04/pol…

It's essentially political intimidation, because Gableman's legal case is, per the Green Bay mayor's lawyer, "lacking in legal merit and built upon a gross distortion of the relevant facts"—to the degree that the mayor intends to file a motion for sanctions. Image

Republicans are trying to seize control from our state’s election commission and put the GOP-dominated Wisconsin state legislature in charge of elections. This would open a direct path to Republican politicians overturning election results they don’t like.
Republican Speaker Robin Vos says that most of the members of Wisconsin's bipartisan Elections Commission should “probably” face criminal charges.

With @GovEvers’s veto, the Republican attempt to re-gerrymander our state and thwart our democracy has slammed into a brick wall. Governor Tony Evers has demonstrated once more that he is the last line of defense against anti-democratic attacks. 1/
Republican legislators in Wisconsin have lost sight of how a democracy works—voters are supposed to choose their elected officials, not the other way around.
The process of drawing legislative maps should be fair, transparent, and nonpartisan, but as we’ve seen, Republicans will stop at nothing to hold onto power.

Brown County is Wisconsin’s fourth biggest county (after Milwaukee, Dane, and Waukesha), and Green Bay is Wisconsin’s third largest city. In 2020, Brown County turned out 12,129 more Dem votes than in 2016—which is more than half of Biden’s statewide margin of victory.
How did Brown County Dems jump their turnout by 23%(!) in 2020? Organizing. Communicating with voters. A massive team effort. Which is what you’d imagine from the home of the Green Bay Packers.
