If I am salty about the "climate emergency" framing, it's because of stuff like this. Scaring people out of their wits with the misleading message that we still have one last chance to save the planet is not a good idea, and it's not true.
Like, come on. Failed planet? It's still easily in the solar system top three. This stuff is anxiety porn, a Weather Channel for the younger generation, part of this weird cultural moment that amplifies hopelessness and despair. Go take a walk, clear your head—it's warm outside! 
The way through climate change is learning how to get long-term solutions out of a difficult and messy political process with short time horizons. That probably means inventing our way out of it and finding ways to get rich by fixing it. A very different message from "DOOM, DOOM"
No one wants to talk about geoengineering because it doesn't fit the moral framework of the climate emergency. We were bad, we had a good time, so now we must scale back and repent and suffer to atone for what we did to the planet. But... what if we just blew up a volcano or two?
My personal silver lining for climate change is that people in Quebec will finally be able to build nice vacation homes and spend their summers canoeing around this thing (Lake Manicouagan)
