Remembering Lee Remick on her birthday
📷 Allan Grant, 1962
"In the picture gallery of fine American actresses, she holds a special place. She was always, indubitably, Lee Remick; her beauty, both perky & patrician, & her obvious intelligence were hers alone."

Gjon Mili's marvellous shot of Lee Remick, on the set of Otto Preminger's Anatomy of a Murder, 1958
"Lee Remick proves once again she is an uncommonly gifted actress whose somewhat fragile, almost stereotyped good looks tend to distract one from that fact."
- John J. O'Connor

When you see a portrait as perfect as this, you know Mili is a superb photographer. When it's taken on a busy movie set (Anatomy of a Murder), you know Mili & Remick are both pros.

So many great shots from Allan Grant's 1962 photoshoot with Lee Remick for Life magazine.
An extraordinary shot by Gjon Mili of Lee Remick having her hair done on the set of Anatomy of a Murder, 1959. Eve Arden is knitting in the background.
Life photographers paid close attention to Lee Remick over the years. This is Alfred Eisenstaedt's shot of the actress on the set of Wild River, 1960.

Gjon Mili's remarkable still from Anatomy of a Murder, a remarkable movie. Great performances by George C. Scott, James Stewart, Lee Remick & Joseph Welch.
Man, I'm flabbergasted by Gjon Mili's work with Lee Remick on the set of Anatomy of a Murder. He does it all: the gorgeous colour headshot, the cinema verité dressing room photos & this beautifully composed psychological study of a great beauty & a great actress.
