My gnosis.

This is the story of my gnosis. It is available from the link in my bio, but I'd like to detail it a bit more here.

It was mid 1999. At this point I was effectively atheist. Technically agnostic, but I didn't sweat it. I was unconcerned about God.

I had spent my youth extricating myself from evangelical Christianity. I viewed all religions as the same. I'd taken the best of Christianity, discarded the rest and was just living my life unconcerned with such matters.

For the first time in my life I purchased a quarter oz of cannabis. I'd been to Amsterdam a few times, tried it a handful of times but was never into it. It was smoking which was bad (I didn't know about it's anti carcinogenic props) and it was illegal.

From the first puff it was different. It put me in the same headspace as the born again experience. I wasn't thinking about God, I just recognized the headspace I hadn't been in for over a decade and a half.

I made the comment that I now understood why it was used in religious ceremonies. It was excellent.

This went on for several days. It was the first time I was alone with cannabis and I discovered how to use it as a tool of self discovery.

It was a Saturday morning. Wake n bake. I felt a little guilty for starting so early (guilt I have since come to terms with!). The TV was on, a 1960s vampire movie was playing. I wasn't watching it. My mind was off. I don't recall what I was thinking.

I had let go. My mind was doing it's own thing and I was the observer.

Suddenly, instantly, my life changed. There was no warning. There was no train of thought leading to it. I experienced gnosis.

An infinitesimally small point exploded with light and understanding. I witnessed the Big Bang.

I instantly knew I was God. Instantly knew I was a Christ. Understood the fractal nature of existence. All is One.

A complete paradigm shift. Instantly.

I knew I was now a Gnostic. I had a deep understanding of the concepts, as if I'd studied them at uni for a couple of terms. Instantly

Prior to my gnosis the only thing I understood about Gnosticism was God was within. As an evangelical I was immunized against such lines of thot

Seconds before my gnosis, had you told me I was God I'd have laughed at you. The experience was one of the most powerful in my life. For years the joy and excitement stayed with me. A few hundred years ago, that experience would have been conclusive proof to me.

But I'm a scientist. As powerful as the experience was, it was entirely subjective. Even tho I'd never directly learned about such things, maybe I'd picked it up and had a THC fuelled hallucination.

For the greater part of a decade I held two mutually exclusive beliefs, that I was God and that the experience was a beautiful hallucination. Faith wise it was about an 80/20 split. I lived in the intersection.

That headspace occurred for the duration of that quarter. The next quarter I purchased that headspace was missing. I've never experienced it since. But I learned the value of cannabis as a tool of self discovery and went on from there.

Since then I have received, objective to me, verification of the knowledge and understanding of my gnosis. You can read about it on the link in my bio.

An addendum. Prior to gnosis a process called "preparing the vessel" is required. It is a journey of self discovery and transformation. It takes time and effort. Years.
