You're in a hole with friends and everyone wants out.
Some decide it is hopeless so they begin to take a shit.
Some are too angry to think, so they start screaming and thrashing at everyone, mindless of the wounds they are inflicting.

You see a rope ladder and say "hey, gang, there is a way out... the rope ladder is sturdy and will lead us to safety if we work together"
They stare at you and go right back to what they are doing but sadly, try to prevent you from climbing the ladder and continue to act as doom is the only solution.
I'd say #LearnMMT, but sadly you will be awakened to the most awful form of self mutilation imaginable and you will never be the same again.
No one wants to be in the hole... but they who can't and won't accept there is a way out together are killing us every bit as badly as the assholes who put us in the hole to begin with and dammit I want to live!!!!
Progress requires learning. Staying stuck is absolutely NOT a progressive trait. It is by definition a conservative trait and the bane of our existence.

What #MMT provides is many fold, but two key insights...
The political
The economic
1. Political: since fed taxes do not fund spending, the political argument for blocking programs can be overcome.
2. Economic: currency issuers are vastly different from currency users & sovereign debt of a currency issuer is VASTLY different from that of a currency user.
By understanding these two seemingly unrelated points, the efficiency an economic guru seeks to exploit can be realized.
You feel like you are watching and nothing you say or do will stop the tsunami from killing your family...
People in this movement will betray you, smear you, isolate you, ignore you, suffocate you. Kill you with inertia.
And yet we must press on... And yet.. how when people check out if their shoes are on too tight or they will smear you and steal your ideas and turn your friends and allies against you.
I have spent a lot of time with history and theory over the years and it has changed me. I no longer just regret learning #MMT... I regret learning history as well. Now I am doomed from both directions, feeling largely desperate and powerless.
Here is the thing with #MMT, you need votes to finance and resource a bill. We have all largely been rope a doped into constantly being pushed to Democrats who refuse to fight back within the party to make anything happen.
Those pushing Democrats refuse to address any nonelectoral solutions. Won't even broach the subjects. If the good democrats don't do anything, bad people say "what do you want, Trump?"
PERSON A: Can you tell me simply what MMT is all about?
ME: Sure, it's a description of how money comes to be and how it flows in a modern economy from cradle to grave.

PERSON B: Well, you didn't tell me anything we didn't already know... the government is broke because we are all out of gold, and now the government has to borrow money from private banks and China and we are passing debt to our kids because of wars for oil
and private banksters at the Fed have enslaved us... haven't you watched that Zeitgeist movie on Netflix...?
There is nothing gentile about macroeconomics. Nothing at all. It is as much a weapon of mass destruction as it is the key to our collective survival. More people die from austerity across the globe than you could ever imagine. The hidden deaths of those denied basic human needs.
You see someone bust a cap in someone's head and think "now that's some violence right there" but when you see people get economics wrong and people die, some assholes want you to be gentile. Death is not gentile. Poverty is not gentile. Austerity is murder.
We need people willing to organize around this specifically. Pointedly. Willing to train up an army of people fed up and ready to make demands. Ready to force the situation & to bring this crisis to a head. We cannot save lives without this. No more paddycake with Dem plutocrats
