You know what? Let's do better than that. In honor of @bethanyshondark odious question, let's get this teacher of low-income MA kids the subscriptions to @Highlights and other magazines she's asking for. Just need $266 more: donorschoose.org/project/mesmer…
Just $241 left to go...
Well ok, that is now fully funded! Yay @Highlights! Yay teachers!
BOOM fully funded! Now, I can fundraise for teachers and dunk on one of the worst people in America all night so... here's a teacher of autistic low-income kids who wants some @Highlights and @natgeo Kids and other supplies for her classroom. $856 to go donorschoose.org/project/help-s…
Oooh somebody was just very generous. $191 left to go...
FULLY FUNDED!
Ok, that's all the @Highlights related asks I can find on @DonorsChoose rn. Thank you to everyone who gave, and to every one who is raising and teaching kids to care for themselves and others.
And, as president of @ASME1963, I'd like to point out that magazines for kids—@highlights, Cricket, NatGeoKids, Time for Kids, Stone Soup, the Week Jr, and @Kazoomagazine spring to mind—make fantastic holiday gifts.
As do mags for grownups! @MotherJones among them. 😎

If our democracy doesn’t totally collapse, some of the people, Meadows among them, should wind up in jail. I wouldn’t take a bet, though.
This is one of those details that I probably knew but since forgot, because it feels like 10,000 years ago, and also yesterday
Lot of "actually" guys in these replies. I've been saying for months that we should require vaccines to fly, obv with excecptions for the too-young or real medical reasons. Yes, I think it would boost overall rates, to what %, who knows. But what it would ALSO do...
...is cut violent incidents on planes way down.
It would slow the spread of fast-moving variants.
And, most importantly, it would put shift the penalties of the pandemic more squarely on to those who refuse to vax, where they should be.
1/ saw Rent tonight. Mostly feels entirely contemporary, centering LGBTQ/Black characters; explorations of homeless/drug/AIDS/gentrification…but you know what just fucking killed me?
2/ two couples in their 20s behind me and kid who were talking about how they had *no idea* what show was about before it started (ok fine) and then…in a show about poverty or deprivation…
3/ went on to talks, LOUDLY, about their various cars, and their parents $2M Cupertino mansion, and the Grand piano that nobody plays but for which walls had be moved…
Rich techies, teach your kids to stfu, if only for their own safety omfg.
The vaccination rates for 65+ are pretty astounding. But I may be most gobsmacked at the "at least one dose" for everybody over the age of 5. (And possibly need a refresher on bell curves.) nytimes.com/interactive/20…
Would FURTHER point out that this is proof that die-hard anti-vax people are a tiny but super loud minority and that if we were to say, require proof of at least one shot to fly (exceptions for littles/medical counter-indicators) we'd persuade most holdouts, isolate rest.
Who could have seen this coming? Me! Had an insane interaction with him in 2014; when he defended Adrian Peterson’s child abuse, then reversed himself when called out, then attacked and blocked those who pointed this out to him. Sorry this guy was always bad news. Good riddance.
