You’ve done the research and have concluded that you shouldn’t be vaccinated?

Then you’ve done the wrong research, or you’re deluded.

Do the right research by talking to your doctor, and through published and peer-reviewed articles.

1/
Or by following coronavirus and public health experts and science journalists reporting what is happening globally. (I have provided resources at end of 🧵.)

All credible research says that vaccines 💉 cut down your own risk of severe illness.

2/
All hospitals are reporting that most of their COVID-19 patients are unvaccinated.

By remaining unvaccinated, you are increasing your own risk of severe illness and increasing the risk of transmitting the virus, when you have it, through a higher viral load.

3/
Healthcare workers are EXHAUSTED from two years of this horrible pandemic.

Our healthcare system will collapse when many of these doctors and nurses step back from the workforce.

4/npr.org/2021/12/17/106…
We need to care for them as much as we care for each other or ourselves.

By being vaccinated/lowering the probability of ending up in the hospital, we are helping everyone.

This was never a pandemic of the individual, it was always about US, our communities, and our world

5/
So, don’t give me the “my body, my choice.” That’s a co-opted, lazy and stupid argument.

This is not an individual pandemic. The virus 🦠 travels from body to body. So this virus is about how we protect each other, not just ourselves.

6/
By choosing not to be vaccinated, you are risking your own health, risking transmitting severe disease, risking the health of others, and risking the collapse of our healthcare system.

Even if you don’t end up hospitalized, someone infected by you downstream will.

7/
Sending someone downstream to a hospital is not a choice I’m willing to live with.

If you are okay with it, you’re selfish. Not being vaccinated is a selfish choice.

I implore you to consider how your actions are impacting others and our healthcare system.

8/
If your choice is to remain unvaccinated, please remain home and isolated.

Don’t put other’s health at risk because of your selfishness.

If you get ill 🤧 with the virus, don’t go to the hospital and take away resources from others who need the healthcare system more.

9/
We’re all tired of this pandemic. We all want it to go away. It’s not going to happen until we all work together.

#GetVaccinated and #StayMasked

Freedom was never about “Me the Person,” it is and has always been about “We the People.”

Together.

An excellent conversation between @ashishkjha and @NPRKelly dropped this afternoon on @npratc.

It’s worth every moment of your time.

Imagine.

Over the next few weeks, you’re cooking in the kitchen and the knife slips from your hand, and you get a cut requiring stitches.

Or, you slip and fall in your home and you’re pretty sure you fractured something because the pain is unbearable.
Or, someone you love clutches their chest and thinks they’re having a heart attack.

Or, your young child shoves a small toy 🧸 up their nostril.

Or, you end up in a car accident with whiplash and possibly a concussion.

Or, your child has an inexplicably high fever.
And you go to the emergency room, by yourself, with your child or your loved one.

And there is a long line. They tell you to go find another hospital.

They tell you that they’re attending to more serious cases.

They can’t or won’t attend to you.

Hi Twitter Unvaccinated folks and Vaccine Non-Believers,

Look, I totally understand you think I’m a moron for believing in vaccines, being vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19.

I mean, I was only following my doctor’s advice. You know I’m on strong immunosuppressives

1/
Given that like millions of Americans, I have an autoimmune disorder and underlying conditions that make me more susceptible to severe disease.

Since the beginning of the pandemic I’ve been reading through tweets from doctors like @ashishkjha and @DrLeanaWen

2/
Trying to glean out what would happen if I came down with the virus 🦠. What would happen to my family if I didn’t recover? I’d lost my job and health insurance due to the pandemic recession.

I read @Laurie_Garrett’s “The Coming Plague” and scoured @apoorva_nyc reporting.
