Whatever else you think about President Biden, holding the Senate in 2022 for judicial confirmations is the MOST IMPORTANT thing to fight for if you want progressive policy. Our judges will long outlive the administration. They will rule on cases for the next generation.
1/
Democrats may have disagreement, and even a bit of disarray, on policy. But all 50 Democratic Senators have been fully united on confirming a diverse and progressive judiciary at record speeds. We have 40 judges confirmed this year, and should get another 100+ next year.
2/
Democrats are filling our current vacancies with speed and purpose. But you can't fill vacancies that don't exist yet. Judges don't stay on lower courts forever. There will be a lot of resignations the second 2 years of President Biden's term. We need to be able to fill them.
3/
The SC is of course the most important, and the longer we hold both the Presidency and Senate, the better chance we have of flipping a seat there.

But even without SC changes, the lower courts are phenomenally important. Especially the circuit courts.

4/
Only a small % of appeals make it to the Supreme Court. The majority of appeals happen at the Circuit Courts. Flipping Circuits are a major accomplishment.

Next year, we will already be able to flip the 2nd and 3rd circuits. With and additional 2 years, more could follow.

5/
There are still judges on the courts that were appointed by REAGAN. We will live with the consequence of the Trump 2016 victory on the courts for a generation. But we can counter a lot of it with 4 years of Biden and a Democratic controlled Senate. We HAVE to fight for it.

6/fin
BONUS: Don't take my word for it. The Republican party still has their site up about how important flipping circuit courts are. As they helpfully mention, the SC reviews less than 1% of all circuit court decisions. Circuit courts heavily influence interpretation of law. The 12 geographically defined U.S. circuit courts have the f

I think the global vaccination effort has been getting a bad rap. If you watch the news or listen to Twitter M.Ds, you would think nobody outside of wealthy countries have gotten vaccinated. This isn't true. A large majority of adults worldwide have gotten at least one shot. 1/
Probably somewhere 60%+ of the worlds adults. 3.61 billion people have gotten a shot. That's 47% of the global population. But close to 25% of the population is minors, and they make up a small number of vaccinated. So 60%+ seems reasonable. That's a lot of people. 2/
Far more than you are being led to believe. Mostly because of the sometimes dishonest use of statistics about "low income" countries. When the average person hears "low income country", the assume countries that are poorer than wealthy ones. But that's not what it means. 3/

Wow. I think it's safe to say that the "kids in cages" talking point by any reasonable standard is now dead.

Number of unaccompanied minors in CBP custody is now 954, down from 5,727. The average amount of time they spend there is 28 hours, down from 133. Biden admin fixed this.
Well this took off. As it should. The resolution should be talked about as loudly as the original problem.

But anyways, follow our account for detailed tracking of President Biden's accomplishments, as well as fact based (and snark based) rebuttals to disinformation.

The American Rescue Plan blog is here. I believe it's one of the most detailed rundowns out there of everything that the bill does. Please RT and share widely. I'll be threading all the major points below this. whatbidenhasdone.wordpress.com/2021/03/14/eve…
1. Stimulus checks: $1400 for each adult, child, or adult dependent. 85% of households will get one.
2. Child tax credit: Raises for 2021 from $2000 to $3600 (kids 0-5) or $3000 (6-17) the child tax credit (same income levels as checks) and pays half in periodic allowances.
3. Expands by almost 4x the tax credit for child and dependent care. Credit is now $4000 per child ($8000 total) at 50% of eligible childcare expenses, and significantly more qualify for it.
4. 1 year EITC bump for singles from max of $530 to $1502. 19-24 and 65+ now qualify.
