Your grandma never let you eat ice cream before dinner.

Here's "Granny's Rule" and why it will change how you work👇
I don't know about you but sometimes I just want ice cream before dinner.

But Grandma never allowed it.

Granny's Rule = eat your vegetables before you get your dessert
In work and life, vegetables are hard tasks.

Dessert are easy ones.

Only do hard things?

You end up miserable.

Only do easy things?

You never grow.
How you can apply Grandma's Rule:

Always start with your hardest tasks.

That workout you never seem to fit in?

Start your day with it.

That project you can't seem to start?

Do it first thing in the morning.

Then let the easier work be your reward.

Why this works👇
BF Skinner is a psychologist known for unlocking the power of conditioning to influence behavior.

In one experiment, a hungry rat is placed in a Box.

The rat explores the Box only to find and press a lever.

Food appears!

Then the rat hits the lever again.

Food appears!
Eventually, the rat begins to salivate and anticipate the food even before pressing the lever.

With Granny's rule, we can train ourselves look forward to an easy task when we do a hard task first.
Now, the rat had no choice to enter the Box.

And sometimes, I feel like we don't either.

We live in a world that programs us to crave likes and retweets.

Or food so sugary that it overpowers your brain.
So why can't we build a better environment to reward behavior we actually want?

Why not hijack our own brains for a change?

Granny's Rule is a good first step.

Steve Jobs killed BlackBerry.

By creating a cult and inventing new rules

Here's the breakdown and why it matters👇
In January 2007, Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsille are probably sippin a coffee sitting in their frosted glass office when they see IT.

IT is the moment Steve Jobs reveals the iPhone to the world.
Mike and Jim don't know yet...

But the BlackBerry is doomed.

Apple's "Jesus Phone" would soon take over the world.

McDonald's sells over 6 million burgers every day.

But why should you care?

Here are 5 lessons worth their weight in grease and why it matters👇
1) Kill Choice

“If we gave people choice, there would be chaos."

Originally, "McDonald's Barbecue" serves pulled pork sandwiches, burgers and more.

But the McDonald's brothers start inspecting receipts to find best sellers.

And they cut the menu from 25 to 9 items.
Why this matters:

So you have a clothing brand that sells 100 options of t-shirts and sweatshirts.

I land on your website and have no idea what to buy.

If I have this problem, other people do too.

So you can analyze what sells best and cut the rest.

Choices kill profits.

3.2 billion people use a spreadsheet every month.

But what you don't know is that the spreadsheet led to Apple's early popularity and changed computers forever.

Here's the story of VisiCalc👇
The year is 1978.

And Dan Bricklin is a student at Harvard Business School.

Like any good Harvard student, one day he starts daydreaming.

But instead of dreaming about Bitcoin and NFTs, he thinks...
"Imagine if my calculator had a ball in its back, like a mouse.

And if I had a display like a fighter plane where I could see a virtual image in the air.

I could just move my mouse calculator around, punch in a few numbers and do all the calculations I need!"

Apple is the greatest cult in the world.

And every cult needs a place to meet.

Welcome to the Apple Store.

Here is how Steve Jobs built the most profitable stores of all time👇
In 2000, Steve Jobs has a problem.

How could he sell more Apple products without becoming dependent on major retailers?

His solution?

Build his own store.
But he realizes that retail experience is usually terrible.

So he decides to interview people and ask a simple question:

"Where do you have your best customer service experiences?"
