Imagine thinking what the writers have done to Qrow is good character development. So the troubled uncle of our 2 main characters who showed he cared about both & tried to help in his own way becoming more and more useless and idiotic is good to you? Wow, couldn't be me. #RWBY
So it's good writing that Qrow clearly shows far more care to Ruby than Yang now, even though it was shown he cared and loved both equally? Or him being yelled at for being depressed and the only logical person in the Party back in V6 by the niece he loves so much? Oh and what>
about the narrative championing her doing this as some sort of "kids rule, adults drool" bullshit? And don't even get me started on how they write him giving up alcohol cold turkey with NO issues, or him getting over his depression back in V6 without any issues or assistance. Oh>
and how can we forget the great writing they did with Qrow in the Atlas arc. Despite knowing James longer than any of the kids have lived, he never once defends him, tries to help him when he's clearly suffering and proving he's trustworthy, and supporting the kids' BS in Atlas?
And then there's the whammy of him choosing to work together with the psycho mass murderer who works for Salem, tried to kill him and kidnap his beloved niece, fight a guy he's come to see as a good friend with the narrative of "so they can settle things between them". Do I even>
need to explain how bad that even sounds on paper? And then they have Qrow act shocked when Tyrian kills Clover & frames him after he broke his aura...what did you think was going to happen?! But yes, he's totally a much better character now than he was in the past, right guys?
Keep in mind, this isn't even me getting into how he then blames James for Clover's death instead of himself, Tyrian and Robyn who all caused the circumstances that led to his new friend's death or never worrying about his nieces in V8 until the plot remembered at the very end.
I find people who like this bastardization of Qrow post V5 are moreso fans of the idea/concept of Qrow rather than the character himself. As the writers continue to make him worse & worse with each passing volume, and as an actual Qrow fan, I mourn the loss of our true bird boy.
And because I know some will try to use this as a "CJ can't take others' opinions" narrative, do know that in all seriousness I do respect other people's opinions & you can like whatever version of a character you want. I'm just taking shots at certain idiots in this fandom.
Said idiots are in fact those who try to argue against critics and critical analysis of RWBY using-what they see as-logic and reasoning. Those people who try to act like those who think critically are flawed or just blind haters. No, we're fans who don't blindly eat our meals.
