Most blistering I have heard Blinken himself be about last admin's decision to leave the JCPOA. And noticed in admin official talking points the last few days, they are very much connecting their decisionmaking now to the terrible outcomes of that decision
Blinken today, senior WH official in background two times in four days, senior state department official Friday,
We are where we are because of what I consider one of the worst decisions in US foreign policy in the last decade: Getting out of JCPOA...agreement that put Iran nuclear program in a box...we were promised a stronger deal..., instead, see just the opposite...Iran broken loose ...
Biden admin officials seem to be connecting their decisionmaking now to the terrible outcomes from Trump decision to leave JCPOA a) because it is true b) Israel having something of a debate about it too c) there really is not a superior military option than diplomatic agreement
d) to discredit the leave the deal advocates now pressing for military options

there have been other tv dramas that wrote in the pandemic, but something about the morning show being about the news, and seeing history just two years ago when there are early signs, but they don’t know how big it is going to be, is really eerie.

some opacity at least for me at the Vienna talks so far with western side saying too soon to tell, but what is evident is Russia seems to be doing some serious heavy lifting to try to get enough that the parties agree to keep going.
