According to LAPD documents that we obtained using the Public Records Act, "Shadow Teams" infilitrated crowds during the George Floyd uprising in order to "identify plans for civil disobedience" "document crowd behavior" and "report spontaneous celebrations." 
These were protests where LAPD brutalized and arrested over 4,000 of their critics.

According to @ByMikeBaker @MrOlmos and @adamgoldmanNYT, FBI infilitration of protests "became a point of concern for some within the bureau and the Justice Department." But LAPD has faced zero official scrutiny for these same tactics, despite ongoing community outcry.
In March, over 40 community groups demanded "answers about what these LAPD agents did within protests, including whether officers instigated or entrapped members of the community."
