Some of my worst accidents were incredibly stupid. For example, I was sitting on the couch reading a book and a picture nail came out, a picture fell on my head, and I got a concussion.

Another time, I was reading Fanshen, holding the page open with my pinky and dislocated it.
I was working, sitting in a chair that had a rung across it. I was wearing kitten heels that I hooked on the rung while I worked. My foot slipped in the shoe (The shoe did not come off.) and I broke my ankle. Yes, I broke my ankle sitting in a chair.
I was playing volleyball. I had a killer serve back then. I had just served 14 unreturned serves when on the 15th I cracked my wrist so badly the crowd could hear it break.
About 4 months later, after it healed, I was playing foosball and did a hard shot from the defense post and cracked it again.

The following year, I fell cliff-climbing and broke it for the third and last time, but that's not nearly so silly.
When I was 5, I was swimming and a snapping turtle bit my big toe. My nail grew back in about 15 separate pieces, all of which have to be clipped separately.
Whenever there is a question for Twitter about sillly accidents, etc. I am always befuddled on which is really the silliest.

So, I got a review copy of a book in the mail today. I am going to type the text on the back cover, text that is supposed to make us want to read the book.

As the novel opens, Alexa, one of the protagonists, has high hopes when she secures a marketing job in New York.
But her Newfound freedom from living at home with her father is cut short when her estranged twin sister Beth shows up at the doorway of her tiny apartment after a long stint in a psychiatric setting.
Alexa too has spent time at the Weinstein Center, and as the reader is slowly clued in on why she was sent there in the first place the suspense deepens. As questions mount and secrets unfold revealing the dark shared history of the sisters, this page-turner picks up speed

I think Christian Walker is canny. He understands that racist America loves Black people who play to their assumptions about Black people. He's like Diamond & Silk, playing a fool so he will be admired by the GOP, the overly dramatic fool who fights for white supremacy.
Always remember, Black excellence terrifies white nationalists. Black foolishness endears itself because it props up the belief their privilege is the result of merit, not structural racism. Christian Walker reaffirms the idea of white supremacy and meritocracy with every word
Of course, Christian Walker harms Black people with his performance of a dumb, entitled, lazy Black man living off his father's work and calling it his own, but then, he's selfish and doesn't care about anything or anyone outside his me/mine bubble.

When I hear about the Big Lie, I remember it began with Bernie Sanders and his campaign claiming in 2016 that the primary was rigged. I don't forget that Elizabeth Warren agreed. It was not and sore losers claiming they lost because it was rigged is bad for democracy
But when has Bernie ever let democracy or the good of the country get in front of his ego? His machinations to have himself appointed the candidate by appealing to superdelegates after his campaign denounced them? Trump is just following Bernie's lead.
Then his supporters tried again in 2020, advancing a false rape allegation, coaching people to change their stories to back up the lies...all in hopes of getting Bernie to replace Biden as nominee.

I think one thing people fail to understand about the racist backlash to VP Harris is that, like Obama, she is white people's greatest fear incarnate. It's not Black people, it's Black Excellence. They aren't scared of Terrence and Diamond & Silk. They are scared of excellence.
Even Ben Carson, a neurosurgeon for Pete's sake, plays the role of a sort-of absent-minded professor bumbling his way on the campaign trail, forgetting his suitcase, etc. Is he really only smart in one thing or does he understand that he needs to abase himself for white votes?
I think Rs, in general, don't like their politicians to be very smart. They want to be able to look down on them a bit. I think Trump's most inane moments are deliberate, to encourage the fond "that's my guy" smile at his bumbling. Their hatred of Democratic candidates is always

I keep thinking about David Brooks recent column pretending that the white supremacy of today's GOP was not present in the past (Reagan) and looked to see how he responded to the Neshoba County Fair states' rights speech. He said calling it racist was a "slur" and "distortion."
You can read it yourself.

When you tweet demanding that Merrick Garland perp march Trump you do Trump's work for him. That includes you, @JoyAnnReid

"Lock her up" is a slogan that is destructive to democracy and the rule of law. It criminalizes politics. It is evil.

So don't do it from our side
I think people want Merrick Garland to act like that trash Ken Starr and assign his version of Kavanaugh to leak grand jury testimony to the press. That's not how it is supposed to work.

DOJ investigations are supposed to be confidential until they file charges.
I don't want traitors like Oliver North to walk because of a technicality. I don't want Trump to get away with it because the investigation was rushed or the prosecutors cut corners. Make it perfect and wrap it up with a bow so it sticks.
