Before SRC (1956) Map of Maharashtra was something like this - Dark red and light red (Bombay presidency), green (Marathawada under HYD), blue ( CP & Berar) #MHwithMES #बेळगावमहाराष्ट्राचे
In 1956, SRC declared new linguistic states and on 1 nov, KA (then Mysore) became full state. Karnataka formed with Old Mysore (green), 4 dist from Bombay (red), 3 dists from HYD(light green), South Canara from Madras (yellow) & Coorg(dark green) #MHwithMES #बेळगावमहाराष्ट्राचे
The 4 district from Bombay - Belgaum, Hubali, North Canara, Bijapur and Bidar, Gulbarga, Raichur from Hyderabad were handovered to KA.
Vice-versa Kannada speakers also stuck in Maharashtra and Maharashtra is ready to handover them to Karnataka. Villages in South Solapur, Akkalkot, Jat taluka have sizable Kannada speakers.
Marathi leaders raised this issue with then HM Govind Vallabh pant. They promised that once States are created borders issues will solve with help of Parliament. However this never happened.
MH claims total 865 villages with Karwar, Belgaum, Nipani, Bhalki, Supa, Haliyal cities. This claim is based on 4 principles. 1. Village as unit (Pataskar formula) 2. Geographical integrity 3. Majority of speakers 4. Wish of people's
This Pataskar formula is used to solve border issue between TN and then AP. Same is applied for Bellary issue with AP And KA. MH never asked these whole disctrict, they are just expecting scientific formula to get this region back.
Marathi peoples of Belgaum nad border area are not fighting against Kannada but they are fighting against Union government and KA government for their basic rights.
Mahajan denied 146 villages from Santpur, Humnadad, Bhalki talukas of Bidar district & what was the reason? Bidar will lose its district status. I mean they can add some Kannada talukas from Gulbarga but they want to keep Marathi area. #MHWithMES #बेळगावमहाराष्ट्राचे
