Why Schröder's and Merkel's generation of German leaders enabled the rise of Putin's Russia is one for the psychiatrists to sort out.
What is beyond question is that their actions might have fatally undermined Europe's security.
That mistakes made in the 30s were repeated is obvious. One can only hope that future leaders will not make the same mistakes again. Never feed an aggressor with resources, never offer it political and diplomatic support and protection, never let it get away with war.
And how many other European leaders are crawling for the Kremlin fascists? How many former leaders are now working for it? How did this continent become so corrupt?
Of course Europe's history is one long war, just with different fronts and actors, actors who were usually cunning, corrupt and ruthless. The EU was intended to change that, but then we must agree to actually act on it.

The debate about how Russian and Chinese propaganda is washed into real news by western news outlets has moved forward in Sweden.
Credit to @ghokmark and @patrikoksanen for addressing it. expressen.se/debatt/sa-pave…
@ghokmark@patrikoksanen The problem has been going on for a long time. In 2014 it was a disaster, now it's a little bit better but not good enough. Media who wants to be taken seriously MUST review and investigate its sources. Is @Reuters really credible when it reports news from TASS as if true?
@ghokmark@patrikoksanen@Reuters Is "press conference" really a good word to describe what Putin is doing today? Selected journalists, questions approved in advance, no critical follow up questions. Wouldn't "propaganda performance" be a better word to describe the event?
Very good one by @OlgaNYC1211!
Russia has two assets for extortion now; fossil fuels and its military. In some years the fossil fuels will lose its value and there will only be the military left. Russia will be like North Korea. cepa.org/putin-extorts-…
@OlgaNYC1211 The North Korean regime is extremely totalitarian and the population is brain washed. North Korea can only get attention through military recklessness. Russia is rapidly adopting this model. Just imagine Putin in power for another decade - what will Russia be like then?
@OlgaNYC1211 What is to be done with the Russian population? How to protect a potential for a normal Russia in the future? The way I see it we have to open the borders for Russians who want to emigrate to Europe. Russian democrats can shelter in Europe until there's a chance for a new Russia.
How to spot the Kremlin narrative?
- Writers exclude the Ukrainian people from the analysis, it's all about US-Russia
- Bombastic statements like "the Ukrainian army will be wiped out" are made
- A bipolar perspective: Our children should not die for Ukraine vs. appease Russia.
The argument about "our children should not die for Ukraine" are made to exclude any option of support for Ukraine between total appeasement and dead Americans on the battlefield. There are actually many options, like arms deliveries and hard economic sanctions.
EU-NATO could also send troops to Ukraine and position them in less exposed positions, leaving Kremlin to think about wether those troops would be used or not.
Seriously, @leonidragozin is one of a kind.
How about Ukrainians defending their freedom and independence? How about defending Ukraine from occupation by Russia? How about Ukrainians defending the safety of their families, their kids growing up in a free and fair society?
All @leonidragozin can think of is NATO-membership, US air force bases on Ukrainian territory. Ukrainians wishes are nil to him. For him Ukrainians are pawns who only act in the interest of the U.S.
Belarus has trained Afghanis and Iraqis to carry out armed attacks on the Polish border. They were trained by the 'Marjina Horka'-brigade and Russian GRU says former Belarus ambassador to France and Poland @PavelLatushka.
Via @literatt2 and @IlvesToomas euobserver.com/world/153478
@PavelLatushka@literatt2@IlvesToomas The training is supposed to have taken place at a base near the village of Opsa, in north-west Belarus, belonging to 'Osam', the Special Active Measures Department of Belarus' State Border Committee.
"Iraqi citizens were trained there [the Osam base], now they are training Afghans with combat experience."
Russia is attacking democracies:
Hot war in Ukraine
Frozen wars in Georgia and Moldova
Hacking
Election interference
Weaponizing refugees
Creating refugees in Syria etc
Corrupting officials
Killing opponents abroad
Weaponizing energy
Attempted coup in Montenegro
Feeding separatism, anti-vaccination campaigns, supporting far-right and far-left politicians, information warfare, propping up dictators in Belarus, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba etc.
