2)(A) PM Boris Johnson isn’t expected to announce new curbs to control Omicron in England, after briefing on impact Xmas had on Covid cases & hospital pressures. This may leave England at odds with other parts of the UK, where post-Christmas restrictions have been deployed;
2)(B) Cabinet Ministers remained sceptical of further Covid curbs Monday morning, as PM prepared to receive his post-Christmas briefing on the latest infection data by CMO for England Prof Chris Whitty, and CSA Sir Patrick Vallance;

Omicron cases.

Macron will hold a crisis meeting at 4pm (1500 GMT) via video conf, with key members of his Cabinet and representatives of French public health bodies;
4) An Israeli hospital gave 4th Covid-19💉doses on Monday to a test group, as Israel considers approving an extra booster for clinically vulnerable populations, in a bid to stem a surge in infections fuelled by the Omicron variant;

Eruption passes to VEI-3, as our experts said days ago. The large amount of fallen ash clearly indicated passage to this level, after reeval by PEVOLCA committee. VEI-3 doesn’t indicate that rash is getting worse or that its behavior changes.
