Above all, I try to write and create things that I believe are useful. One of the most useful things I think I co-created this year is this conversation I had with @sarahljaffe about her book Work Won't Love You Back, surveillance, capitalism and more. truthout.org/audio/work-isn…
I also loved my conversation with @sarahljaffe that marked the tenth anniversary of Occupy and explored what we can learn from that movement today. truthout.org/audio/ten-year…
I also got to have this incredible conversation with @avitale about the nature and history of policing, which I hope will continue to serve as a resource to others. truthout.org/audio/you-cann…
As Palestine faced a new wave of violence in 2021, I was honored and humbled to make this episode with @LeaKayali, to uplift some of the history that's been erased by the corporate press and the U.S. education system. truthout.org/audio/what-the…
In October, I interviewed Kaiser health care workers who had just authorized a strike. Within weeks, those workers declared victory, after forcing Kaiser to scrap contract provisions that would have been harmful to patients and staff. truthout.org/audio/nurses-s…
In November, I talked with @rebeccanagle about ICWA and why everyone should be worried about attacks on the Indian Child Welfare Act. If you skipped this one, I would circle back tbh. Rebecca really breaks it down. truthout.org/audio/right-wi…
Shortly before Line 3 became fully operational, I wrote this piece about the struggle to stop the pipeline. I am as proud of it as anything I have worked on this year. truthout.org/articles/line-…
I also made this podcast episode about what Line 3 resistors are still up against in court and why you should support them. truthout.org/audio/enough-c…
This episode about the #StopShotSpotter campaign felt important to me, and I loved uplifting the stories and voices of Chicago activists who are fighting this insidious surveillance technology. truthout.org/audio/abolitio…
There are so many other important convos from the show that I won't cram into this thread, but this episode is prob one of the most important that I'll ever make tbh, bc what @CosbyMoni shared was an essential message that's rarely showcased. truthout.org/audio/people-i…

Stop asking people how they got covid. It's rude and accusatory.
I mean, if you know them personally, whatever, but I see y'all asking strangers on here like they need to account for how they got infected with the second most contagious virus in the world. It's absurd. Vaccines are protecting people from severe disease, not infection.
And like a lot of personal questions you prob shouldn't ask strangers, the answer could be tied to a tragedy the person has no desire to discuss with you. Boundaries, folks. Boundaries.

I've seen people say that false positives on rapid COVID tests aren't a thing, and that only false negatives happen, and I just want to dispel that because I know two people who have tested positive with rapid tests and then negative via an immediate follow up PCR. It happens.
It doesn't mean you should take any positive result lightly, but the wisdom that was previously being passed around -- that false negatives happen, but positives do not -- is not accurate and I'm surprised it's still being said.
I am sorry to say it, but the home tests are hit or miss. They get touted as a great thing because we are being offered so little in the way of functional testing.

To overcome capitalism and individualism, I believe we must cultivate belonging and a refusal to abandon one another. In that spirit, this Christmas, I'll be supporting groups that work with and in defense of incarcerated people. If you can and would like to, please join me. 🧵
I'll also be supporting some formerly incarcerated survivors and their families, as these folks have to fight harder than anyone to catch a break and survive compounding violence. With their permission I am sharing their info in case anyone else wants to brighten their holidays.
The @survivepunishNY Mutual Aid Working Group supports incarcerated survivors of gender-based violence through sustained commissary support, care packages, visitation and communication. These organizers are MVPs. survivedandpunishedny.org/mutual-aid/

Biden did not deliver on student loan forgiveness, voting rights legislation or Build Back Better in 2021, but he did manage to make Rahm Emanuel, who covered up the murder of Laquan McDonald, a diplomat. Remember this when Dems blame the left for all of their failures in 2022.
And that child tax credit they've been bragging so much about? "Without renewal, an estimated 9.9 million children across the U.S. could fall back into poverty and tens of millions of other families will receive a smaller credit in 2022." cnbc.com/2021/12/15/dec…
Unbelievable unless you were relatively certain they were going to do this.

Every year I invite people who are celebrating the colonial holiday to do something in support of Native people. Between the hyper-criminalization of Water Protectors and attacks on Native families, sovereignty & voting rights, this is a crucial time for our communities. (THREAD)
This thread is a list of groups & fellow Indigenous organizers I will be supporting today & I invite you all to join me. First, the Line 3 Legal Defense Fund provides support to people facing arrest, jail time & repression bc of their opposition to Line 3. line3legalfund.com
Woodland Women is a group that offers mutual support and healing for women on my reservation. They hold community talking circles, practice mutual aid, offer free beading classes and share Menominee cultural knowledge. I love them. paypal.com/paypalme/Woodl…
