This post is for the millions of Ontarians who will contract Covid and be in need of financial & medical assistance.
To the #longcovid deniers, you’re simply wrong and you will be sorry. We have the receipts.
Some call this fear-mongering; I call it being realistic.
To those pragmatists out there, dismissing the need for accurate covid testing, you’re missing some vital information and giving bad advice.
I hope you’re wrong. I don’t think I am.
PCR testing is limited. CMOH says to use a RAT or get a $75 antibody test, wh/ requires Dr requisition, & may be problematic if vaccinated (wh/ most of us are). DR. MOORE HAS TAKEN AWAY OUR FREE ACCESS TO ACCURATE PCR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING.
Dynacare: "This test is helpful to identify patients previously infected by COVID-19 and to determine the presence of antibodies in individuals who have been vaccinated." dynacare.ca/covid19-antibo…
This is your livelihood & your life and you deserve all the facts.
You may have #mildcovid and go on to develop #longcovid with no more than a used-up, undated, unidentifiable RAT – if you can even afford or get your hands on one.
Are you a gig worker or self-employed like me, with no access to sick pay of any kind?
Does your employer’s sick policy, sick pay, STD, or LTD or your govt’s disability plan require evidence of Covid19 illness for you to get paid and in a timely manner?
Will your plan cover you without a positive PCR test? Will your Dr have to submit questionnaire after questionnaire (paid by you)? Will you pay thousands in lawyer fees? I hope insurers & govts will be lenient with approvals, but it’s all about the money, & so I remain skeptical.
Read the struggles of claimants, fighting disease and insurers. "It's a lot more debilitating than just fighting an illness," she said. "You have to be ready to lose everything."
Her claim denied, “Renaud has now launched a lawsuit against the insurer, joining the growing list of long-haulers fighting in court for recognition of the post-viral illness.” cbc.ca/news/canada/ot…

This article, Written by Howard Levitt, the best known and most widely quoted authority on employment law in Canada, is a MUST READ. financialpost.com/fp-work/insure…
“Insurance companies look for any way they can to deny or cut short a claim: that is how they make money. In the case of COVID-related disability claims, insurers are frequently denying claims due to insufficient medical evidence, for example, the lack of a positive COVID-19 test
Levitt: “According to the Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table, roughly 10 per cent of those who become infected with the virus become long-haulers.”
“Many Canadians despair of ever regaining the lives they lived before contracting COVID-19.”
