This article, Written by Howard Levitt, the best known and most widely quoted authority on employment law in Canada, is a MUST READ. financialpost.com/fp-work/insure…
“Insurance companies look for any way they can to deny or cut short a claim: that is how they make money. In the case of COVID-related disability claims, insurers are frequently denying claims due to insufficient medical evidence, for example, the lack of a positive COVID-19 test
Levitt: “According to the Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table, roughly 10 per cent of those who become infected with the virus become long-haulers.”
“Many Canadians despair of ever regaining the lives they lived before contracting COVID-19.”
“What’s even more frightening is there are others who are dragging themselves through their life and they are suffering. But because this cluster of symptoms is so ill-defined, they don’t actually realize that they are long-haulers,” Rastin says. canadianlawyermag.com/practice-areas…
“If you have this potential pool of 140,000 people who might be disabled in a year, that’s a significant financial risk for them,” he says. “You can bet in the boardrooms the insurers are realizing that this is a severe threat. It is going to be a big fight.”
"Right now," said Rastin, "there’s no way of knowing if people will ever recover from long-haul COVID."
What is needed:
➡️Immediate circuit breaker on return to school to ride out the wave and put in place proper airborne protocols
➡️Dramatically upscale testing capacity so that we can track, forecast, and prove covid cases
➡️Massive #covidisairborne public health campaign 24/7
➡️Shut down large events including sporting venues, concerts
➡️Significantly reduce capacity in retail
➡️Reduce shared air during meals - Move to curbside/takeout for restaurants
And, because a girl can dream, provide every citizen with #covidcarekit free #N95s4All, RATs, and oximeters, covid care and isolation instructions AND provide #paidsickdays for all who need to isolate or recover from illness.
To @andreahorvath@stevendelduca@MikeSchreiner you will inherit a massive health care problem & debt. It’s time to put aside ego, party leadership, form a coalition against dark forces & work together to solve the largest crisis in this province’s history – for the common good.
But this crisis is unfolding and requires immediate action. In my mind, our only hope is for local public health to step in. Once again, I implore @drepdevilla and her counterparts to stand up for our kids, our health, and our future.
I have also called on @JustinTrudeau to enact the #emergenciesact and speak to us from his cottage. #SOSJustin
We need to know that you are listening and doing all you can.
This post is for the millions of Ontarians who will contract Covid and be in need of financial & medical assistance.
To the #longcovid deniers, you’re simply wrong and you will be sorry. We have the receipts.
Some call this fear-mongering; I call it being realistic.
To those pragmatists out there, dismissing the need for accurate covid testing, you’re missing some vital information and giving bad advice.
I hope you’re wrong. I don’t think I am.
PCR testing is limited. CMOH says to use a RAT or get a $75 antibody test, wh/ requires Dr requisition, & may be problematic if vaccinated (wh/ most of us are). DR. MOORE HAS TAKEN AWAY OUR FREE ACCESS TO ACCURATE PCR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING.
