1) In letter sent to Congressional offices, Capitol Attending Physician Brian Monahan tells Capitol hill community that COVID cases "exploded." Says The Capitol's positivity rate went from less than 1% to more than 13%.
2) Monahan: "Dozens of individuals with coronavirus infection are identified at the Capitol daily, with the majority of these occurring in vaccinated individuals." Says 65% of cases are symptomatic.
3) Monahan: "A significant measure to reduce disease spread now includes wearing a properly fitted, medical-grade, filtration face mask (KN95 mask, or better (voluntary N95 mask program) when in crowded outdoor events or when in indoor spaces and another person is present."
4) Monahan: "Congressional offices, Committees, and Agencies should immediately review their operations to adopt a maximal telework posture to reduce in-person meetings and in-office activities to the maximum extent possible."
5) Monahan: "Electronic means to facilitate all-virtual or hybrid-type meetings or hearings should be emphasized. Employing agencies should review their efforts to promote all required measures to sustain workplace and employee health and safety."
6) Monahan: Capitol food vendors and dining facilities will emphasize carry-out, delivery, grab-and-go type food options to reduce assemblies of people dining together in inside spaces..Any group activity indoors should promote strict mask-wear compliance.
7) Monahan: "Blue surgical masks, cloth face masks and gaiter masks must be replaced by the more protective KN95 or N95 masks. Wearing a mask is a very effective personal protective measure to reduce the risk of infection."
