A thread 🧵 on me misleading people for my financial gain (~18 ETH) via my tweets about a rugged project, Expansion Phunks (@XpansionPhunks). Keep reading to find out what I did:

I listen to people all the time and am open to promo tweets about projects for money. I’ve been wanting to be more and more open about making money in NFTs and posting promo tweets about different is a low-effort way for me to make money and help projects out.

But there are plenty of bad actors and I have attracted them. I’d say 99% of projects that I promote fail. In this case, I talked to @flywheelfund (flys.eth) and only him about promoting Expansion Phunks (different from Expansion Punks).

I was led to believe that this project was a good pfp, had a roadmap, and would be a fun thing to invest in, potentially creating their own marketplace. I didn’t do any research of Fly nor try to dox the anon team+devs and for that I’m very sorry and regret not researching.

We agreed for me to get paid 10% of the mint price and 0.5 ETH per promo tweet. I got paid 1.5 ETH while the project was minting. Now about my tweets: I did not post #ad on every tweet and I am greatly sorry. I only used the word “promo” on tweets announcing my mints and others.

I also disclosed how much I was getting paid, but only in a reply tweet. So the info was buried and hard to find. I should have been more open about it and marked #ad on every single tweet about the project just to be clear. My justification for not doing it was me investing $$.

I thought that as a casual investor, I could engage and help pump my bags about the project, as I normally do on here
(especially with my apes; and other people who own heavy bags of other projects). But doing that caused my followers to buy more into the project.

I greatly underestimated the power of my purposely “non-promoted” tweets and took advantage of those buyers by getting paid 10% of the mint price. But, again I trusted Fly that this wasn’t a rug. I ignored his history and track record while just trying to help sell out.

Now that Fly and the twitter account has gone MIA, it appears as is the project has fully rugged while paying me off. I have remained here to answer and questions and be more open. I got paid a total of 17.9505 ETH (etherscan.io/address/0xb9e1…)

So I want to send that amount of money and also my mints to building another community, and there’s a discord now that is discussing this (link is discord.gg/xphunks). Hold me accountable and make sure I return the money.

I’ll try to answer any questions that I have but I hope I’ve made my intentions clear on what I wanted (to make a lot of money from this project) and that I failed to use #ad on every tweet/interaction with this project.

I have been fighting and grinding for every dollar in this space because everything can be down by 95% by next week. But now I realize that the same thing can happen to my real life reputation.

I’d rather be completely honest and say that I’m in this space to make money however I can, it’s the wild Wild West. I once had 30 apes and 200 followers. So I didn’t need the community to succeed at that point, and here I am using it for financial gain by low-effort promos.

It’s completely fair to judge me that way, I just never thought I’d be the one promoting a legit scam and attaching myself to @flywheelfund because I thought he had too much a decent following to orchestrate a rug pull with me attached. But I’ll face the consequences.

I’ll probably have to reduce my twitter/NFT activities except just making sure I am involved with the Phunks community to try and rebuild. Thank you for reading and again I am very sorry.
