Another thread on the mental acrobatics behind the Aryan Invasion and Sudra Invasion Theories. There is a chance that such sort of an invasion exists in historic memory. There are three kinds of invasions which happened in Europe -

the kind of Mongols and Huns - who came, pillaged everything and were pushed back, the kind of Magyar and Vandals who entered Europe but didn't exactly topple Empires - they carved their own kingdoms and surely, didn't impose their culture on the civilized Rome.

The third one is that of Yamnaya or the Celtic invasion which no one remembers - this is the actual Aryan invasion. The local culture and even genetics is wiped off and the invaders brutally imposed their culture and genetics on European Women.

The third model is what gave rise to Aryan Invasion tamasha - clearly, no one can pull out such sort of a crackpot theory out of thin air!! So, what do we have something nearer? Is it possible that they modelled their theory on Spanish conquest of Americas?

That's what happened there, right - foreigners with better technology invade an advanced civilization and wipe it off in decades. Is there anything close home which fits that pattern? There is possibly one - Pelasgians. Some identify them with the Teramere culture of North Italy.

Dionysius in his Roman Antiquities writes of them -
Afterwards some of the Pelasgians who inhabited Thessaly, as it is now called, being obliged to leave their country, settled among the Aborigines and jointly with them made war upon the Sicels.

It is possible that the Aborigines received them partly in the hope of gaining their assistance, but I believe it was chiefly on account of their kinship; for the Pelasgians, too, were a Greek nation originally from the Peloponnesus.

This is a story similar to that of the Sea People. So, what we have is barbarians rampaging and destroying civilizations and supplanting them. Why Teramere and what role do they play here? Middle East politics faced a tectonic change with the rise of Hittites.

That was the first time civilized world saw competing and not coexisting kingdoms. With warfare everywhere, even their trade partners were forced to take sides. The whole trade ecosystem existing from Baltics and Iberia and passing to Minoa

either through Teramere or Sicily started importing another important commodity - mercenaries. There was always a demand for them!! But, things seem not to be straightforward enough. Around 1200 BC, Central Europe saw a massive drought.

The worst affected were the Teramere and their counterparts on the other side of Alps. One theory says that one fine day, the Teramere decided to pack their bags and march south. The whole area was depopulated(an estimated 4 lakh people) left within a generation

erupting upon their southern trade partners. Now, it may or may not be that Teramere started this wave - they could have been one of the components of a bunch of independent bands which slowly fused together - North Italy towards North Greece and Sicily, from there on,

towards Crete and Egypt, Hattusa, Babylon and others. Civilizations lay shattered in their wake, even Hittites begged both for help and sent advance warnings to be prepared to their enemies - the whole area erupted in chaos - only Egypt braved the wave.

Now, who populated Anatolia after Hittites collapsed? Obviously, it will be these new settlers. That they were able to attack the whole territory from Libya till Black Sea at the same time tells both about their numbers and the surprise they generated.

Did this memory linger on - at least parts of it? Was this invasion embellished with details from Spanish conquest of Americas form the seed of Aryan and Sudra Invasion Theories?
